Turning off iMessage without iPhone 4s present

this is useless. he clearly said NO ACCESS to his phone. Like most of us who have moved on, we cant get our texts because apple has them taken hostage.

Just tell tell them you want iMessage switched off on your AppleID because you sold your iPhone..

Yes, a bit annoying to see every single post giving instructions on how to turn off imessage with an iphone since the issue is turning it off when you no longer have the iphone...how can this be done? Other instructions of logging into your account with Apple doesn't work either. I guess I can call the number provided but that seems a bit ridiculous.

Chris CA can you not read what the orginal poster said? HE DOES NOT HAVE AN IPHONE!!!!!!!! Go in there and read the information or are you to illiterate to understand that the link requires you to have a Iphone in order for the process to be done. Stop posting redundent information that has no common sense.

Stop posting redundent information

Perhaps if people would read the information the first time (thus showing their ignorance and illiteracy) , it would not need to be reposted, thereby becoming redundant.

How long does this method take? I deleted my phone number, but i'm testing with a mate and when he types in my mobile number on his iphone it's still trying to send as iMessage.

After cancelling your number from Apple's database - see in previuos my comment - it should be immediate.

I completed this approximately an hour ago and it still hasn't worked.

I also went to iforgot.apple.com and reset my apple ID password as i had seen that this can forceably reset iCloud and iMessage settings.

When i sent a text test from an iphone - it's still showing up as iMessage however - the difference is now that it fails straight away and there's the red exclamation mark - i can then send as Text message.

Previously it would send the imessage but just stay there.
