Software Update printer driver update for HP causes an extra page to print that just has "2345X" printed on it.

Hi, I have the same problem.

I have an imac with os x 10.9 connected to a hp photosmart 3210 all in one printer. All was well until i downloaded an update for my printer from apple update.

One fix is to remove hp software and reload from hp site using software and driver for os x 10.6.

I tried this but the os x 10.9 software i am runing would not let me install the older hp software.

At present i am stuck. Hoping apple will come up with a update to fix the update.

I have a Macbook Air with 10.8.5. I uninstalled the HP software for my 3180 All-in-One and installed the 10.6 version directly from HP. I did have to change my security settings temporarily to allow me to install the 10.6 download. Everything working fine now.

How did you change the security settings? I encountered the same problem (MacBook white 2010, running OS 10.9) but couldn’t install the driver for 10.6.

Go to System Preferences under the Apple logo, then Security & Privacy, click the lock in the lower left corner to make changes, temporarily set to Anywhere under "Allow applications downloaded from:" Install the 10.6 download, then reset the security setting to "MacApp Store and Identified Developers" (if you want). Hope this helps.

I followed your instructions and was able to install the hp driver for os x 10.6.

This fixed my printer problem. All is happy with my printer.

Yes, the 10.6 driver straight from HP worked for me also. I used the uninstall app first and then installed the driver. There is a software update for HP when I check for updates, but I now know to ignore it 🙂

Yes, the 10.6 driver will work and correct the printing issue. However, the 10.6 download did not include the HP scansoft. In my case, this meant I lost the scan facility of the printer.

Since, I use the scan facility, I went back to the upgraded HP software.

This is the only way to use the scanner that I've found so far.

Go to:

system preferences / print & fax / open print queue / use the scan option on the upper right corner.

My printer/scanner work perfectly with the OS 10.6 HP driver download.

Mac OS10.9, HP3310.

Thankless, so the HP scan.app is not in your Hewlett-Packard applications folder? It's in my folder with the HP Utility.app and I dragged it to the Dock.

I am having the same problem (2345x) with my Deskjet 9800. I could not find a download for the 10.6 driver on the HP website, and the HP phone support rep. told me it is not available there. Comments here lead me to think otherwise. Could someone post the link please?

I just downloaded the 10.6 driver. after the download I had to add my printer in the print&scan menu, and while adding my printer he did automaticly the update. I tried to stop, but then I can't add the printer...?!? How did you do that?

@baltwo: It is not possible to download the driver from this link, because it says that the drivers 10.6 are included on the system. You can ownly download the 10.5 drivers, but then the printer does not find any software and does not print! It asks to do the apple update, but then there is the extra 2345x page again!

Is there any possibility to download and install the 10.6 driver, without updating the software through apple?
