Bluetooth isn't working

On my mac at home and at work (the one at work is running 10.6.8) I try and connect a bluetooth device (Magic Cube Epic http://www.celluon.com/products.php) and first it asks for a password to connect, which it shouldn't, then procedes to say that it cannot connect. I change it to not needing a password and it still fails to connect. However when I try to connect it to one of the brand new iMacs it connects just fine. Do I need to update anything to get it to work, or am I just plain screwed? When I try to connect a bluetooth mouse it works just fine.

To reset the SMC

Shut down the computer.

Unplug the computer's power cord.

Wait fifteen seconds.

Attach the computer's power cord.

Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

Resetting NVRAM / PRAM

Shut down your Mac.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

Turn on the computer.

Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.

Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Release the keys.

Ok, so here's a good question. I did a search for how to delete the com.apple.bluetooth.plist. Everyone said to go /library/preferences and then find com.apple.bluetooth.plist.

However, I don't have /library/preferences. I have /library/preferencepanes, but no just preferences folder. And in /library/preferencepanes, I don't have any plists. same thing in /system/library. No preferences folder, but I have a preferencePanes folder.

Is that my problem, and if so, how do I fix it?
