Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner Drivers

I receive this message when I try to activate my Epson Scanner under OS X 10.9:

"You can't use this version of the application "EPSON Scan.app" with this version of OS X.

You have "EPSON Scan.app" 3.2.4"

When I go to the Epson site to download the proper drivers, it says I can only download the update from the Apple Store using Software Update. When I run Software Update it doesn't show any updates for the Epson scanner.

How do I get the proper update?

Thanks,

George

I am experiencing the same problem. I have the same Epson scanner as you. It is frustrating. But, the only thing I could do was to use the IMAGE CAPTURE software app to get a scan. It's not as good as the EPSON app, but for now, that is all I can figure out. I've contacted Epson, and hopefully, they can update or work it so that we can use the EPSON app and not IMAGE CAPTURE. IMAGE CAPTURE is very limiting.

SZMZ,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...I noticed that EPSON America has downloaded the drivers for the EPSON Perfection V500 Photo:

It is Epson 15904.dwg, released 11/1/2013, 17 mb.

You do have to bloom it to open and after it does it works...I tried it.

Hopefully, everyone can go back to normal.

Thanks again!

Until Epson and Apple get Epson Scan working again I have started using a workaround. The process of installing Epson Scan is detailed below. This workaround allows me to only scan using Epson Scan on my Epson 4490 scanner. Use at your own discretion. I am not sure the shut down & power up sequence in steps 06 & 09 are absolutely necessary but the procedure did work for me.

Epson 4490 - Procedure To Install Epson Scan into Applications Folder Of OSX Mavericks

01 Ensure operation is from a User Account with administrator privileges

02 Turn off Gatekeeper (System Preferences / Security / Privacy / Click lock . . / Allow apps . . .: Anywhere)

03 Shut Down Macintosh

04 Delete scanner files for Image Capture

04a Make OSX blind to scanner to avoid an “in use” message

04a1 Power off scanner

04a2 Disconnect USB network cable from scanner

04b Power Up Macintosh into a User Account with Administrator privileges

04c Move to Trash “EPSON Scanner” at OSX / Library / Image Capture / Devices /

05 Install “Epson Scan” (ES) into Application folder by launching "epson13680.dmg"

05a Epson Support site identifies this .dmg for OSX 10.6.x

05b Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v3.07A

05b1 EPSON Scan Utility and Universal Binary Scanner Driver (TWAIN) v3.07A.

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=58611&infoType=Down loads&platform=OSF_M_X6

06 Shut Down Macintosh

07 Reconnect USB network cable to scanner

08 Power Up scanner

09 Power Up Macintosh

10 Return Gatekeeper to original settings

10a System Preferences / Security / Privacy / Click lock . . . / Reinstate previous setting

11 Exercise Epson Scan in Applications folder for scanning

12 If not ok move “EPSON Scanner” from Trash back to original location
