mavericks maps problem - why do they go blank?

I just started to use Mavericks and find that in iPhoto and in the Apple Maps app itself the maps show for a brief moment the appropriate map then it goes blank - actually a yellow-cream color. In iPhoto I see drop pins but no map content. Anyone help? I was really excited about Mavericks but finding issues quicly...

So, I read all the posts and tryed to fix exactly the same problem! Maps app still does not work, it is just blank page with grid, even in Iphotos ( geolocated photos are crucial for my project, but i need map to see the location)

I've done:

checked the region and language,

re-booted laptop

re-installed mevarick again

Apple! what is going on? Please tell me how to fix this issue for sure?

I'll add a 'me too' to this.

I tried logging out and back in to icloud. The interesting thing is that it couldn't fully sign me back in (I have no keychain now!) because of a communication error with icloud.

I think the root of this is icloud!

Interesting to note that if I am on standard view and I export as PDF it looks fine. It is simply displaying in that window.

Same problem here 😟 I tried all suggestions but the only one helped me is restart my Macbook. But this only lasts for a while and then Map goes blank again. I have really no idea.

I have 2 other issues maybe related to this: the Google Maps is also not working in Safari... when I try to zoom the tiles are streched but the browser doesn't load the higher resolution. Screenshot: http://goo.gl/vLPKp6

The other problem is also in Safari but with Facebook. When I start typing into the search field I'm just writing over the original textbox label and even don't get any results... Screenshot: http://goo.gl/SXZwt9

In Chrome and Firefox everything is OK!

I experience all issues at the same (Apple Maps blank, Safari Google Maps stops working, some websites like Facebook produce strange anomaly in search fields). I couldn't recognize the trigger event, but a resart solves everything for a while then it starts again...

I'm using 2012 macbook pro. Didn't have a problem with maps when I originally installed mavericks, but I sure have it now. I only get satelite view, and a blank standard view. Since there is no standard view, the hybrid view is exactly the same as satelite view. Restarts don't help. I haven't seen a definitive fix in this thread. Signing out of icloud appears to be a very big deal, deleting a lot of information from my computer. It makes me nervous. Is this guaranteed to work?

I don't know why that worked for you, but I just tried that (going to full screen) and it did NOT solve the problem for me either!!

There is another discussion that some of you may find helpful...

Title: I don't see any maps in Maps on my iMac.

I posted in that thread as well, but someone in that thread said that you have to leave it open for a LONG TIME the first time you run the application, but I'm waiting to find out how longthey had to leave Maps open before the graphic maps came up!

If anyone else has come up w/ another idea or solution I'm all ears!!

Same problem here. Hybrid and Satellite work fine. Standard is blank. Works for a second upon re-opening.

I tried that and while it doesn't look the SAME It is STILL BLANK!!! The only difference is that the background color has changed from cream in the Standard mode to dk grey in the Hybrid mode!!

From what I have read, I am hardly the only one with this issue!!

I think there are A TON OF BUGS in Maps and as I have found out the hard way... in Mavericks overall!!

Normally, I wait several months after they release an ugraded version of OS X before I actually download for just this reason.... SO I DON'T WASTE MY TIME ROAMING THE SUPPORT COMMUNITIES SOLVING THE PROBLEMS THAT POP UP DURING THIS FIRST FEW MONTHS AFTER IT'S RELEASE!!!

I just don't have 3 or 4 hours to spend trolling the net to look for solutions to problems that Apple should have fixed before they released the software for public download!!!

😠 😠 Sorry if I sound a little upset, but Maps isn't the only problem!! The new versions of Pages & Numbers have been "SIMPLIFIED" to the point where those of us who use the old version on a regular basis CAN'T FIND ANY OF OUR REGULAR TOOLS & FEATURES IN THE NEW VERSION!!! 😠 😠

Now that I have that out of my system... I have found a few other threads on this site that have other suggestions that might be of assistance to you.

One thread in particular called Maps does not work has an abundance of different suggestions.

Ease up on the bloated coloured text. Makes posts look rude and as if you are yelling. I was going to make a suggestion, as Maps work fine here on all my Macs. But you seem to be here to rant. I suggest you start your own thread outlining your own issues as you have tried to go off topic by thread jumping here and will receive little help with the approach you have taken. Remember when opening your own thread to just use normal text and be polite, as the Terms Of Use you agreed to request of you.

Good Luck
