Is there any way to customize the size of windows in the presenter display?

Yes, others have mentioned, but as I'm sure you noticed, you can't even see what the CURRENT slide is with that workaround, unless you turn around like an absolute noob presenter and look at your own screen.

This new presenter view is totall botched. As I said previously, magic move and the like is nice, but the ability to see your notes without scrolling is absolutely crucial. I went back to 09 and will forget about this new version until I hear of a fix.

Here's another problem - I am unable to get any presenters display onmy second screen. I've been doing presentations for years, so I understand how to set up the system preferences. since I could not see enough notes in Keynote 6 (the new version) I have reverted to 5.3 This worked before I upgraded to mavericks and the new keynote. Now not only is the lack of ability to customize the presenters notes a hassle I CAN'T EVEN SEE THE PRESENTERS NOTES. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

One other note when I go to Keynote>Play>Customize presenters notes all I get is a black, blank screen. I'd appreciate any help. thank

Interesting. With Mavericks and Keynote '09 (5.3 1170) on my Mac, it takes quite a couple of seconds until the customize display becomes visible; the screen is black during that time. But then it arrives in all its glory. (There is no such delay with the normal presentation mode).

Did you try futzing with the Keynote preferences under Slideshow and Presenter Display?

It doesn't show up no matter how long I wait (well I haven't waited an hour:-) I've messed with all those preferences.

In the continuing search for a workaround for Keynote 13, I tried unchecking every box except presenter notes and then tried to make navigator so that it stayed visible and would afford a view of the slides, but there is no way to advance the slides while navigator is visible. One must view it, select a slide and then close it to advance.

Still gnashing about this, as there was no justifiable reason to break the OS X presenter view.

It doesn't benefit inter-compatibility, doesn't help the web beta (which has no presenter notes), and is such a transparently, boneheadedly "design" over function decision that whoever approved it needs a Forstall-esque job conversation, ASAP.

I present for a living, I travel to do it, and having to contend with people taking away capabilities from the tools I use makes me steam.

I'll probably have to downgrade. What a pain.

The most important long term effect it will have is that it will make me suspicious of upgrading. With Microsoft that was always a given. With Apple, in the past, it was not. You could upgrade pretty fearlessly. Now I won't trust Apple so much in the future.

The 09' version should still be in your app folder so no big deal there. If you have created or opened presentations in the new version, you will have to export them from the new version as a "keynote 09" to have them open back up in the MUCH BETTER 09' PROGRAM, ooops, did I shout?

So in the long run, there should be no harm, no foul, because you can simply go back to using the prior version.

True. I think what has people worried is how long will Keynote 09 be supported? How long will it continue to work? It's already 4+ years old (ancient). And people who use this tool to make their living have spent hundreds perhaps thousands of hours building presentations thinking that Apple would of course not sabotage the program and render your presentations obsolete, or render your presenter notes suddenly unviewable while presenting.

Depends on their response I guess, and most of us have complained in the proper fora: the app store and the links for providing comments above. I think app store would get their attention faster than anything because there professional users will be dissuaded from buying or installing the upgrade.

This is a dealbreaker for Keynote 6. Just exported my presentations back to 5.3

I am really disapointed with this update, it basically dumbs keynote down to the rubbish that is powerpoint. Keynote was my favourite tool, and as trainer and speaker I use it daily. So now I have to go back to old versions and hope that Apple does something about it.

Hi everyone,

Just like most of you, I rely on being able to see presenter notes. The new Keynote has taken a total dive in functionality and looks.

Here's what I did.

Keynote '09 is still in your Applications folder in a folder called iWork '09

*copied* Keynote 09 from iWork09 to Desktop

Created a folder on the Desktop called "New Keynote"

*moved* the new Keynote from Applications to "New Keynote"

*moved* Keynote 09 from Desktop to Applications

*moved* "New Keynote" folder into iWork 09 folder in Applications

Everything is back to normal and working -- if you double-click an existing keynote file, it will open in the "good" Keynote.
