Getting iMovie 10 to run on old iMac?

Happy Mavericks day, y'all!

It would appear that iMovie 10, which was released along with Mavericks, won't work on my model iMac 24-inch Mid 2007. It won't update because it doesn't support the video card. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where one might dig in an effort to trick it in to working? I don't want the advanced bells and whistles just general conformity with my other systems.

Cheers

You're not the only one. Despite Apple's weak after the fact kb explanation, this is inexcusable. If you have one of the affected Macs and want to keep using iMovie without being constantly nagged to perform an update that you cannot perform, stick with ML. I have a newer rMBP that I could easily upgrade to Mavericks and iMovie 10 but it's staying on ML and iMovie 9 until all the kinks and bugs in Mavericks are ironed out.

Finally managed to get iMovie 10 installed on the iMac, could not complete one single import without constant freezing and the dreaded spinning beach ball of death. Reverted back to iMovie 9, same problem. Now it's time to ditch Mavericks altogether and revert back to Snow Leopard. A working Mac running old software beats a giant useless paperweight with the latest software any day of the week. Thank goodness it was free or I'd be highly upset. All I've lost to this point is a ton of time trying to get iMovie working, only for it to ultimately fail. I'm not allowing Mavericks anywhere near my Macbook. I'm perfectly fine with ML.
