iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)
I went home, installed Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and Office works fine. I don't understand why Office on my iMac at work keeps crashing. I even uninstalled Office and reinstalled. I am using the English version. Any help? Thanks.

Just found out my solution. I went to Font Book and validated a font my wife told me to download and it came back and said there was a 'serious error' with the font. I deleted it and now everything opens just fine. I wondered if it was font related because when I would try to open Word it would always crash at 19% which was still in the loading fonts phase.
Hopefully this will help someone since I just spent 4+ hours over the course of 2 business days trying to figure it out!!
I think I can come up with a ad slogan for MS, namely: "Microsoft - we provide problems, You provide the solutions. Be creative, it may save you some time!"
I restored Word from a Time Machine version before Mavericks upgrade and it created a different error. I ran Font Book and verified my fonts, it found some duplicates an removed them. It didn't help. Could you give the download link for the font you say you downloaded. So, I understand, that specific font was corrupted or did the process find another corrupt font. Appreciate it.
adamcpl,
Brilliant. Many thanks. Problem solved and very easy.
Much appreciated.
adamcpl U ROCK!!!
thx a lot it works perfectly :-)
Fantastic! Works like a charm.
Thanks Adam
So simple - I wonder why MS can't do it 😀
Adamcpl - Your solution works. Do You know what is the source of the problem?
Tried the Java and did all the updates, but it was the FONT VALIDATION and removal of "corrupted fonts" that fixed the problem for me. Yippie! Thanks guys!
" Do You know what is the source of the problem?"
Yes - Redmont
Many thanks! It did work for me as well! You are my hero! thanks bro!
Why noy use iWork instead of buggy Office for Mac? You can do more with Nages, Keynote and Numbers. The interface is so intuitive and simple. If you are worrying about the Windows stuff, you can export your file into a .docx, .ppt files.
The reason is simple. The document looks different in these programs. And often they manage to be processed and sent some documents to MS Word users. And finally, Word can do more. But I agree, 95% of office product users use 5% of the capabilities. And these are easier in iWork. In my opinion :-). But this is oftopic.
It seems one issue has to do with Track Changes. I can launch Word but when I open a document that has track changes turned on it crashes. Solution is to go to Word Preferences / Track Changes and uncheck Use balloons to display changes.
