Hello, Thanks to all who have helped. I tried everything as recommended here; nothing worked! - Except deleting Office 2011 as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768 and reinstalling Office. Crashing seems to have subsided. Now I wish I was Polish as their fix was fairly straigh forward. Now for a shameless plug My old high school buddy, Paul Mazan is a Polish American and has written an interesting book; Fighting Poles on amazon. Check it out, I hope Apple can find out what caused the issue and can address it as I can imagine a lot of folks are hesitating to upgrade to Mavericks. Thanks again for all those who helped.
I turned off Microsoft Error Reporting in Preferences and all works fine.
Thanks for the suggestion. I launched Microsoft Error Reporting and unchecked the option in the preferences, but Word and Excel are still crashing.
Updated my MacBppk Pro to Mavericks OS X 10.9 and MS Word crashes; never worked since the OS update.
I tried the font check, fixed some fonts, Word still crashes.
(by the way, Excel seems to be working fine)
Here is the crash report. Any thoughts?

I have worked out that Word crashes on the second time I save changes to a document. On the bright side, it does actually save before it crashes.

I have the same problems since the update (which actually crashed itself - now think it was because outlook was open at the time). My mac air wont start now as it keeps restarting (kernel etc).
But I have a differrent point I want to make. When I open the pc in safe mode (option key pressed while starting), not only it logs in properly, I can also use outlook (!!). How can that be?
Can anyone say why in safe mode, outlook would work properly? What is different than normal mode that allows office to work just fine?
Thanks
I updated MS Office to 14.3.8, I updated to Java 7, and MS Word still crashes.
Any more ideas?

I fixed it. I had to reinstall MS Office 2011, then manually apply an update through MS AutoUpdate, and then applied update 14.3.8. MS Word 2011 works now with Mavericks for me.

Thanks catris. This is also how I fixed mine, grabed the latest update found here and applied it manually. No need to reinstall MS Office:
