I use SPSS 20 everyday and since I installed Mavericks, I get this problem while opening the app :
>Error # 2072
>There was an unanticipated problem with the license for this product.
>Execution of this command stops.
>Specific symptom number: 4
End of job: 2 command lines 1 errors 0 warnings 0 CPU seconds
Same problem for you?
I have not had any problems. Opened right up to the databased screen. I'll let you know if anything pops up.
I use SPSS 21 and i'm not sure yet if i should upgrade to Mavericks, in case SPSS stops working. I had this problem last year when i upgraded my Mac OS to Mountain Lion (10.8), and i had to buy SPSS 21 in order for it to work (SPSS v21 is supported by Mountain Lion). I wonder if the new SPSS version 22 will run on Mavericks. I've checked the IBM SPSS website and there is NO information on SPSS v22 compatibility with Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks. Anyone else have any information? This problem is holding me up from upgrading to Mavericks, and i guess i won't upgrade to 10.9 until i know for sure that either SPSS v21 or SPSS v22 will work after the upgrade.
Any advice? Many thanks in advance!
Hi Suzanne. Was this using SPSS v20? or something more recent like SPSS v21 or v22?
Hi,
to be honest I don't know, I'm still using mountain lion.
Mario
I foolishly updated to Mavericks as well and now both my SPSS 21 and SPSS 22 won't open. And I don't see any solutions on the IBM site. If anyone figures out this problem PLEASE let me know.

I'm using SPSS 21 and I had no problem all day yesterday opening, doing analysis and saving.
Update to my post :
I reinstalled SPSS 20, updated it to 20.0.0.2 and it works perflectly on my MBP running Mac OS 10.9.
Yes, I am getting the same. Any help out there?
Hi
I do clean installation maverick. SPSS21 is compatible and working perfect.
So it turns out that you have to update your Java to Java Runtime 6. My Mac book presented that option to me after I restarted the computer and I was able to open SPSS with no problem after the update. So no need to reinstall your entire software.
Well, in the end what it worked for me was deleting SPSS 20 all together and reinstalling it again.
Yes Oppiefromil is correct. Installing Mavericks aiutomatically deletes Java, which SPSS needs to work properly. So, after updating to Mavericks, you'll need to download and reinstall the latest version of Java, which you can download here: <https://www.java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?locale=en>. This site has the most recent version of Java for Mac. For some reason Apple is still using Java version 6, while Oracle's Java website has had Java version 7 for a long while now.
Download Java from Oracle's website, then install. After install, you'll need to quit your browser and then reopen it. That'll complete the Java install, and Java will reappear in your Systems Preferences again.
(You can confirm all this by checking System Prefs before you upgrade to Mavericks. Your Java icon appears in the bottom row. After upgrading to Maverocks, check System Prefs again, and the Java icon is no longer there, as Mavericks deletes it as a part of its install process. Follow the above link to reinstall Java, then after the installation is complete, check System Prefs again and the Java icon is back in the bottom row).
Once Java is installed SPSS 21 should run just fine. I just tested it after reinstallling Java and it opens up and works perfectly. It should, therefore, also work fine with SPSS v22. Not sure if it works with SPSS v20.
Hope that helps!

The IBM website is useless and impossible to find any information on SPSS and Mavericks. I've posted info just above in this thread that should help you get your SPSS up and running again by reinstalling Java.
