10.9 (Mavericks) External Display Problem

Recently I made the upgrade to OS X 10.9 and now I start to having problems with the resolution of my sceen. I have a LG Flatron E2250V and it work perfectly in OS X 10.8.3, the recomend resolution for this display is 1920x1084 but right now the system only give me 1600x1200 option, thereby is in a wrong frecuency for my screen.

About 3 month ago I try to upgrade the sistem to OS X 10.8.4 and I had the same problem.

Hello superbiketyty

Thanks but no chance. «Best built for this display» just uses one resolution from the «Scaled» list. In this case it’s 720p – a really bad choice for «best build». It’s far away from 1920*1200.

I’ve contact the apple support today and they did not solve the problem until now. I should get an answer next week, when a coder attended to the missing resolution. Hope they fix it.

After 10.9.1 Mavericks update my two 2560x1440 monitors work well in the standard (landscape) mode but do not work correctly in the rotated (portrait, pivot 90 degs) mode.

The only resolution available for 90 degs mode is 800x600. What is amazing, the available resolutions for 180 degs mode are also wrong (1920x1080 and 1360x768 for Dell U2713HM and 1280x720 for HP ZR2740w).

In Lion both monitiors worked fine in rotated mode.

On the other hand my third external monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 2693HM, 1920x1200) works well in both standard and rotated mode.

**MacbookAir4.1 with miniDisplayPort–DisplayPort cable (changing to miniDisplayPort–DVI-Dual-Link cable does not solve the problem), and monitors: Dell U2713HM, HP ZR2740w, Samsung Syncmaster 2693HM)

I have not been able to get my third monitor to work since upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.1. My MBP is 13" mid 2009. I run my second monitor through the mini-DVI and the third monitor through a VGA to USB adaptor (Diamond-Display Link). They both worked fine prior to the software update. Any suggestions, other than restoring the old software package?

Thanks

I have also experienced problems when using miniDisplayPort-to-DVI-Dual-Link cables in 2 of 3 high resolution monitors I tested. One was snowing and second stayed completely black; I did not care for it as my primary concern was to achive right resolution in the rotated position. So I am not surprised. Try another DVI cable or, better, switch to using another port in the monitor (DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, whatever available). As far as USB monitors are concerned, my fourth monitor (Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421wD 1366x768) works well under Mavericks 10.9.1 when connected via USB port with the latest DisplayLink_MacOSX_V2.1.dmg.

I had a similar issue with resolution on an external Samsung monitor. I finally gave up and went to resolve another issue - the dual menu bars. After a reboot, surpise, all the desired external monitor settings were back and I can again utilize my full external monitor.

I have 2 VGA monitors connected via Thunderbolt and USB with a Startech

USB2VGAPRO2 adapter. As soon as I downloaded Mavericks, the second monitor would not work. Common problem, I gather. However Startech has a new driver. I downloaded it and everything is working as before. Thanks to Michael Schoefeld at Startech Canda for emailing me that this was out. great service and a very good product.
