Hi all, This is useless,

I am not happy to upload my contacts to icloud and however if I have to use icloud its not sync all my other contacts.

I was hoping Apple will be helpful, which is clearly not. Apple did not mention the elimination of the local calendar and contact sync option in their announcement.

I work for a big bank in UK as project arctic, project decided to use apple products, but I single handed stopped it explaining this kind of issues.

After see all your comments I am happy I've take a good decision not to use apple products.

OMG I have to move from this products too. I don’t thing the past light is available in present Apple.

Hi, first time doing this. I have never been involved in any such forum as this but I'm so bloody angry! In the last 5 years I have spent thousands on moving to apple products for a lot of reasons. One of them is, the ease of using the functions, especially for computer dummies like me. The info tab is no longer available in itunes so I can't sync my contacts between my devices unless I use icloud.

I run a small business that has 2-3 thousand addresses listed and growing. It was simple, connect my 2 iphones to my mac and contacts sync automatically. How do I do this without using icloud? My business is dependant on the information staying private.

Apple, I don't trust your icloud nor would I risk using it for the reason I just stated. We, your customers, are not the 'one off' types. We support the products you offer, but you cannot keep eliminating features with your updates that a lot of depend on. IT'S WHY WE BOUGHT YOUR PRODUCT!

Same thing with the new Numbers version, it no longer autocompletes a cell. It can't be that difficult to maintain this function. Why are we not told of these changes before we begin our updates?

What do I do now? If anyone has a solutiuon, Please help.

Apple take note, loyal customers like me and many others will only put up with this for so long.

When I buy a certain product with particular features I expect to have them indefinitely or until I decide to get rid of them, NOT YOU!

I have left feedback, spent hours on the apple hotline about the ridiculous nature of this removal of function. And I can't believe that the muppets in the iOS design team have not got an update for this yet!!! Hello? Anyone at apple want to reply and let us know what is happening? Bring back the info tab NOW, please!!!

In the event that someone at Apple reads these posts, I'd like to weigh in as well. I don't believe there is any technical justification for removing the ability to sync calendars and contacts via USB. For many people, there is no need for intermediate storage in the cloud, and we pay for the extra data transmission that it uses. The main justification seems to be that Apple wants to mine our data and networks for their (and who knows who else's) benefit. iCloud should be an option for those who want it, but it should not be the only option for everyone. I also would like to have the info tab and USB syncing of calendars and contacts back.

I tried the feedback page. No response. The only way to really show a presence is building visible complaint groups outside the apple realm. But when I posted the link to an FB-Group called "Apple without iCloud" (still existing!) here, the link was deleted by Apple within two minutes. So they (or a robot) do "read" these things but only to contain the discussion and make sure it does not leave this space...

Unfortunately, I do not have the funds to promote my FB-Group with a viral video or so. But I am dead-sure: If this group would have a certain amount of members, Apple would listen - at last. If this does not happen, my decision is clear: My next laptop and smart phone will not be Apple products anymore. It's the only sensible solution. I will not put my sensitive client data at risk in any cloud and also not the iCloud.

You obviously didn't bother reading it then, because it quite clearly says, right at the top of the page, that you won't get a response.

So what will you buy, as neither Android nor Windows phone include native local USB syncing either?

Why not just use SyncMate 5 from Eltima Software, which allows local syncing over USB on your existing hardware.

HALLELUJAH!!!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

The SyncMate 5 Beta works like a charm. Even smoother than the old info tab in iTunes.

I'm FREE again and neither Apple nor Google can "cloud" my sense of being in master of my own personal data.

I can't believe no one has offered this solution earlier. Let everyone on this list know about it cause this was the solution - at least for me.

Again. Thank you!

It appears the Apple police have hit this thread, LOL! It's thier forum, so I gues they can delete anything they like. To bad they are so afraid of giving people some hope. Well, if yoo didn't catch it, I won't say anything more then, things might change.

However, I encourage people to consider looking into SynchMate 5. It looks like an excellent solution and provides a lot of extra sych options Apple doesn't even consider / allow.

It's really too bad that Apple has replaced MicroSoft as the company that must control the users every options. It was so nice back when they encouraged users to think and offered many options, giving just about any user an option that suits their needs.

That's funny, because I use a non-Apple process to sync my contacts & calendars. I simply have them synced to my email account.

Apple isn't controlling how you sync your information. They simply are only providing one option for Mavericks users: iCloud. Use a different syncing service if you'd like.

This is like complaining that McDonald's doesn't serve pizza. If you don't want to eat what McDonald's has on their menu, then go to another restaurant.

Many of us have purchased Apple products, whether iPads or iPhones, with the assurance as shown in Apple advertising that you could seamlessly sync devices without resorting to iCloud. iCloud is a fairly recent development, if you are a long time Apple user.

And up until Mavericks you did not need iCloud. If Apple was going to yank that reliable utility away they should have at least warned them or made it possible for users to retreat to a previous version. They did not. Users should have a choice to use iCloud, or not. Apple has eliminated that choice in their software and users, rightly so, feel cheated. TBade is absolutely correct in his comments.

Now users have to go to extra steps with a test version of other software (SyncMate 5 Beta) to make up for Apple's mess.

I encourage all Apple users to voice their comments to Apple at their Feedback page

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Tell Apple they are destroying their credibility with users by eliminating iTunes Sync across devices.
