How to get a pdf in iBooks onto my iPhone?

Dear fellows,

(Using MacOSX 10.9, ibooks 1.0.1, itunes 11.1.3)

Indeed, since the last update it seems to work better with smal files.

However, if the pdf files are big (in my case there were about 600MB), ibooks load them slowly but successfully, but itunes does not show them in the "books" tab, therefore, we are unable to sync them with the ipad.

Restarting ibooks, itunes or even macosx does not work neither.

Hope this issue may be solved later.

I still have the same problems.

In iBooks, If I try to add a PDF, it says it it's already there and if I'd like to replace it. I do and still cannot see it in iBooks, although I can see it in iTunes.

In iTunes, there's no "Books" category on the left side panel under "Library". There is a "Books" category under "Devices" along with a button at the top of iTunes, both only, if my iPhone is connected.

If my iPhone's not connected how am I supposed to use iBooks, to read a book/PDF if it can't be seen?

Again, where are other peoples books and PDF's stored?

Just spent more than an hour with Apple tech support. In the end they told me that there is NO WAY pdf's are going to get pushed by iBooks on the computer onto the iBooks on the iPhone. It is meant for items purchased on the iBooks Store ONLY! That's what they said! They told me to just do it manually!! Laughable, specially the way they were saying was through iTunes and connecting the iPhone, blah blah.

This makes iBooks on the computer absolutely useless. It has already wasted so much of my time along with many other people trying to figure this out.

So it's back to adding pdf's, etc. to the DropBox on the computer and opening it in iBooks on the iPhone like before.

iBooks on iMac without the syncing abilities is bogus. What a waste..

Oh well, I don't know what the **** Apple is thinking these days. They are back to making really friggin' dumb decisions and alienating the people that love(d) their products.

The upside to this though is that Dropbox for iPhone is actually the best pdf viewer I have found yet. It pays inline multimedia, such as video whereas all the other pdf viewing apps don't even show that that content is there.

At least there's an upside and we can quit wasting our time with iBooks now.

So I was hoping for some form of actual update but this current one didn't change anything for me as far as use goes or easy of. However with that said I can say I did figureout a way with this update to do what use to do though its aggravating to me that I had to do it this way. My PDFs are in my iBooks.app that I've not had an issue with, I still can't edit the meta data or anything but they are there and have been. My issue was getting them onto my iOS device. I'm not a fan of putting everything on the cloud and if I'm sitting infront of my mac I'd like to be able to put items on my phone without using my data plan. Whoever at Apple told customer service to tell users to just email their PDFs to themselves was an idiot. Anyways with this update I restored my phone and set it up as a new phone, no backups used. I then went to the photo button the phone in itunes and synced the photos I wanted then the books and synced not just my apple bought ibooks but my pdfs. Now here was my issue prior when i would select sync my books it would remove the option to manually manage my music. its still does as far as the check mark is concerned in the summary button but I was able to drag songs, albums, entire artist libraries onto my phone and it synced them individually. So I got what I wanted. Upsetting part is that the entire process seems bugged, manage music manually should be checked, syncing books is not the same as syncing photos. Apple seems to think upgrade means remove all useful features, lately. Honestly think how happy we will all be when they give us back the options, its like entirely new program at that point lol.

Thanks for taking one for the team. You're absolutely right that missing this capability makes it an asinine app. I'll just keep sending PDF's to my Kindle for off-line viewing. I'm beginning to lose faith in Apple and I've been loyal for longer than many....

I guess iBooks does not sync over the iCloud. The only way I can get PDF to show up on iPad or iPhone is to sync both devices to iTunes. It would be great if it synced over iCloud.

At least you can get the iTunes sync to work. I see the PDF's in iTunes on the Mac and have the default Sync All chosen but the PDF's never appear on the iPhone. And these are not protected PDF's.

is there a simple way or not to get free pdf ebooks in my ipad ? since osx 10.9 I cannot add any of them

Can you see the PDFs in iBooks? Also the answer really is no but there are ways I've found that are doable.

yes all my books are in osx 10.9 ibooks but not in ios7 ibooks

I'll use dropbox but Apple is becoming microsoft-like
