What has been lost in Numbers 3.0 upgrade?

Has anyone got a list of features that has been lost in the new version of Numbers?

I am aware (and disappointed) that the useful Categories feature has gone (I have requested this feature back on relevant Apple page). I think I also saw that Print view had disappeared.

What else has gone? I make extensive use of filtering and sorting - if those features have been watered down then I think I may not bother updataing.

Thanks in advance,

Simon.

SJ,

Here's my list as of 10:30 EDT:

Function or feature or issue

Reorganize Panel gone

Categories View gone

References now don’t follow sorted rows as they did before. (Now like Excel)

Table Fills not supported

German user can’t use decimal point from numeric keypad.

Split Cells is gone

Sheet View seems to be the only view available during editing. Page view only available in the Print dialog.

Page Headers and Footers are gone

Edit Toolbar (add, delete, rearrange tool icons) is gone.

That's it from here at this time, but I think I have just scratched the surface. Would love to hear from others who are keeping a list.

Apple limited the number of colors in the "handy square box" to 5 colors (plus grayscale) and 4 shades per color. Personally I found the large grid of colors to be overkill and it was hard to click on the correct color. I would often end up with multiple shades of "red" cells in my spreadsheets. But I suppose others might have found it useful to have such a wide variety of colors at ones fingertips.

You can still drag a pattern of colors.

It's very disappoint much without category function. It is easy to use and smart tools for my daily operation. Work with latest sort & filtering makes tasks complicated. Please never make Numbers to be complicated as MS Excel. We don't want another monster in this world again. You almost killed the best apps that most people want it.

Hi Eric,

See this reply by SGIII using the SUMIFS function to replace the missing Categories feature.

By the way, this is a very old discussion. Numbers has advanced from Version 3.0 to Version 3.6.2

Please never make Numbers to be complicated as MS Excel. We don't want another monster in this world again.

Agreed! Numbers does everything I need!

Ian.
