Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears. Another bug?

Mac Mail with Exchange no longer works in Mavericks. This is ridiculous. I've read numerous posts with people recommending restarting the app, restarting the computer, switching from 1 minute to automatic, etc. and none of that works. I thought Apple was a real company that understood people use its products for making $$$!!!

This is unacceptable that I need to restart my computer numerous times just to get new mails. It works perfectly on my iPhone.

My Mac Book Pro, which used to work with the exchange server flawlessly now is a POS!

Can Apple please issue a new mail update so that one of the most basic functions of a computer - checking email - actually works without making us crazy!

Please!

I agree. When I called tech support it took about 20 minutes before they even acknowledged that there is an issue. How would they not know right away? They said it is an Exchange issue not a Mail problem.

Not that I love Mail. I prefer the Outlook integration of contacts, mail and calendar but that needs a major update. I also have mail size limits that I run into and I'm constantly told its an Exchange limitation. But it's not. I have no file size limitations when sending the same attachment in outlook.

I've given up as well. I reinstalled os mavericks three times with no luck. I even went to time machine backup and as soon as I went to restore you could see my subfolders disappear in the inbox. It's just unbelievable. And they played like dumb when I called in to discuss the problem when they obviously are aware of the situation. Outlook works fine so it's obviously something that changed with Mavericks.

Are Beta testers typically business people running Exchange? Probably not. Do business people have time to complain on forums? Probably not. It is how it was missed and has been given low priority in my opinion.

I connect to 2007, 2008SBS and 2010 Exchange servers. The 2010 is hosted by me on my own hardware, the other 2 are hosted elsewhere.

I use Apple applications (Mail, Contacts, Calendars), there are no problems with any of them that I can find.

Unfortunately in the business world Exchange Server is probably 95% of the market. This never should have come out being incompatible like this. Just out of curiosity why is Outlook for Mac junk? I hear so many people say this but it works fine. You'd rather have three separate applications going for mail, calendar and contacts?

Consistently poor performance with Exchange servers is the main objection, that and its general inferiority to the Windows version.

Why do you need 3 seperate apps going, invitations come in and get sent to my calendar whether or not it is running, frankly I prefer not to run some bloated app like Outlook when most of the time I am just using email. If I need to view my calendar it's right there on the toolbar, one click for a quick summary.

I never directly use Contacts (well, hardly ever) Mail gets addresses from it and puts new contacts in it if I choose.

On the Microsoft Outlook forums we do not recommend making subfolders under the Inbox.

Exchange Header

Inbox

Folder A <---this is wrong

Drafts

Deleted Items folder

Junk

Folder A <-- this is correct

It's best to move folders using your web interface (OWA) but you can drag in Outlook.

In Outlook:

First turn off Group folders. You'll see the header with the name of your Exchange account at the top. Drag folders to the header. Do this slowly. It will take some time for results to sync to server then back to Outlook.

In Browser via OWA

Because of the massive changes The process is best done in your browser. I would also put Outlook into work offline mode during this process. After all is moved on the server via the browser, I would delete the Exchange account and let it all download correctly from the server. If you only have Exchange, just start over in a new Identity.
