So I've just installed Maverick and now whenevery I try printing a pdf from adobe acrobat 10 pro all fonts go crazy and nothing is readable. Does anyone have any idea why and how to fix it?

I had the problem printing my standard invoices, which are created as rtfd documents in TextEdit. No matter what I did, changing the tabs, scaling the print-out etc., the formatting was all wrong.

I finally solved the problem by clicking "show details" in the print dialogue. I discovered that the option "Rewrap contents to fit page" was checked (not by me!). Once I unchecked this everything returned to normal.

Here is one at least semi-workaround. I downloaded the PDFpenPro application to view PDF files. I'm in the midst of using some of the recommendations on replacing the Adobe Creative Suite since I think we should own software and not have to rent it from the cloud. . . . Anyway, PDFs print on the Acculaser CX11NF by Epson from this program without difficulty. Major milestone as I need to print and scan PDFs for my workflow. I don't know why PDFpenPro prints PDFs and Adobe Acrobat doesn't, but at least here is a program that at works on my computer with the Espon printer. Hope this helps someone!

This issue with your Kyocera printer is actually from a driver provided by EFI. Both EFI and Kyocera's engineering teams were provided definitive technical deals on what they needed to change in their drivers to be secure in June of 2012. I'm not sure why they have not fixed their drivers yet, but hopefully they will do so soon.

Apple does not distribute Kyocera nor EFI drivers. So you should work directly with your vendor for a fix.

Same situation on a AcuLaser C1100. No problems printing with Word, tons of problems printing text (not images) from Acrobat X. No problems printing on a old DeskJet 850C with Gutenprint driver. Bad prints also try printing pdf's from system preview application. Problem partially solved (but is not a great solution expecially for large documents printing) choosing "Print as Image" in Acrobat advanced printing option.

I have a similar issue to the rest of this post - Mavericks, Acrobat Pro X, 10.1.8, and an HP LaserJet. I have a PDF form that I've been using for years. In Mavericks, Acrobat always scales down the entire page, regardless of the "scale to fit content" setting, or even the "print at 120%" setting, so nothing lines up with the text areas on the printed page.

I opened the file in PDFpen, printed it - no problems.

At least for me, this is an Adobe problem, not an Apple or HP one.

Yes. I think the problem is with Adobe, not Apple or Epson. This is proved, I believe, because PDFpenPro prints the same documents without difficulty that are a mess from Acrobat XI Pro after the update to Mavericks.

I would note that the Adobe fonts: at least Adobe Caslon Pro and Adobe Garamond Pro, which I used extensively, also fail to print from any program at all. I'll have to replace these in thousands of files! But the non-adobe Garamond font prints perfectly via either Pages or PDFpenPro. Very strange, but again, only a problem with the Adobe brand fonts. Sorry I grew to rely upon them for reports.
