Installed Maverick and now cannot print any pdf's correctly

Had real issues getting Mac OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) to work with my networked HP LaserJet 1200 (yes, I know it's old but it's still a good workhorse) due to MountIn Lion's lack of Bonjour support. Finally managed to assign an IP address to the JetDirect print server and all was good. Have just updated to Mavericks and -- guess what? I CAN'T BLOODY PRINT!!!! Checked print settings, deleted printer and re-set to no avail.

One thing I noticed was that in the assigned IP address the periods (.) were all replaced with underscores (_) complete with a leading underscore.

Coincidence? I THINK NOT! Apple, *** is going on?

This fixed my problem with my CX11 printing gibberish from PDFs.

I cannot print AT ALL pdf files with my new BrotherMFC-7860DW (it used to work perfectly with my old HP and Lion).

When I try, I get this window (see below) and I press Print :

Then, that's what I get (see below):

But if I do a screenshot of the file, I get this other printing window (see below) and the printing is ok.

My system : Mavericks (imac + macbook)

Have downloaded version 11.0 of Acrobat Reader but it didn't help.

What is strange is that I get a different printing window when it's with a word doc or with a pdf file !?!??

Can anyone help me ?
