How can I change the login screen background on Mavericks?
None of the old tools such as Onyx or Loginox have been updated, and none of the previous manual methods of performing this seem to be working for me either.
MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9)
It would, as mentioned in my previous post, be nice if Apple were looking at this and updating their software so we can do what is standard on a Windows machine on a Mac, without wasting hours of our personal time.
We pay a lot for a Macintosh, let them listen to our requests and act on them.

I'm still at a loss how to change this. If I navigate to that directory, I get a whole bunch of folders with .lproj extension.

I have a slightly off-topic question, that is: How do you take a screenshot of the login screen? It only works with a second computer remotely logged in, or can it be done with just one? Tried different methods, all I got so far is an entirely black picture.

To do that simply login and while it's still loading you quickly hold down shift+command and press 3 several times untill you hear the sound of a shutter. Then you can find the screenshot(s) on your desktop.
Thanks for the tip, but the shortcut doesn’t get executed quickly enough to still capture the login screen.
EDIT:
Tried it once more, now completely shutting the Mac down before logging in, then it’s working.

If anyone knows of another method to get screen capture from the with the user icons listed, that would still be great.
I have found the solution!
If you look carefully at the Apple product in front of you you will see the words:
"Designed by Apple in California, assembled in China"
I suggest we all read:

I did, and it opened my mind and closed my wallet.
I always did like Linux.

Could you post a psd template for macbook pro retina 15", in retina mode, or what should i have?
I don't know what "retina mode" is, but it would help if you could give me screenshot of your login screen.
How do i take screenshot in the login menu? Cmd +shift 3 dont work?
