Setup Stuck At Creating User Account Screen

I had the same thing happen to me, but by the time I found this and got back to the computer, it had finished the setup. I looked around and it had sync'd my contacts (the only significant thing I am syncing with the AppleID login. It looks like they are sync'ing up everything you have in your Apple account with no progress bar. So taking a break and letting it churn might work, too.

Just to add another instance of this working – the correct steps that got it to work for me are the following:

- ensure you're not signed into iCloud (Settings > iCloud)

- turn off your automatic timezone (Settings > Date & Time > Time Zone)

then retry the process. let it sit for a minute, verify that it's hanging, then turn off WiFi / disconnect from the internet. The account setup will suddenly complete, after which quit Mail and reconnect to the internet for your mail to load.

You must have been doing something wrong... I had no problem at all, and I restarted and reformatted three times (yes, yes...) and each time it worked. Sorry, don't know what would have stopped it...

I'm having the same odd behaviour from my mid 2010 MBP. Will try the good advice here from R-Sal and hold my thumbs. But it is strange, shouldn't it "just work..."?😕

I'm pretty sure the problem is the timezone. I've re-installed Yosemite since, fresh install, and had no issues.
