Has anyone tried Thunderbird with Mavericks?
Given that Mail is so completely useless at the moment, has anyone tried Thunderbird under Mavericks?

The mail fix is now available!!!
Installed an hour ago, been running smoothly since. Sooooo nice to have my Apple mail back!
Thanks Steve for the info !
Well I never thaught I would say that, but I will stay with Thunderbird : I could add so many features that I often wanted to use in Mailapp : (schedule sending messages, search function which really works, see the recipient name in the sent folder and so on).
You seem to make too many assumptions.
I have IMAP and POP Servers. Thunderbird has no problems witht the POP server, but refuses connection to the IMAP. Any suggestions? I am running Thunderbird 24.4 and just upgraded to Maverick 10.9.2.
Many thanks
Ok, I solved my own problem. Port is now 993 and set it to SSL/TSL and now Thunderbird is working. Have a great day!
I've used T-Bird with Macs since it was still a beta. Never had any problems with it. I set up Mac Mail the same way and it works as well.
Had trouble with both Mail and Thunderbird when Mavericks first came out, so I switched back to 10.8.5. I tried again when the latest version or Mavericks arrived, but continued to have problems connecting to my ISP's mail server.
Going into iCloud preferences and unchecking all the boxes was a good workaround for me. I'm now using Mail again (Thunderbird works, too!)
ViShVa,
Just curious.
How do you like the upgrade to Mavericks from Snow Leopard?
I have the last of the black MacBooks and I'm looking to get a new 13" MBP that I can still take apart to service as they will be discontinued soon.
I am reluctant because I wouuld prefer to keep using Snow Leopard.
Anyone upgrading from Snow Leopard or earlier to later Mac OS X versions should read this tip:
