is downgrading back to Pages '09 possible?
I currently have Pages '09 installed. If I upgrade to Pages version 5.0 and I don't like it, can I downgrade back to Pages '09?

If I am reading his posts correclty, he went to his iworks folder and it was over written....
By the time I got my mac you couldnt get iworks and had to down load each app seperately, and when I upgraded it conveniently over wrote my ipage9 with ipages5 because they are both names pages.app. The only way I was able to restore my pages9 was rename pages.app (5) to pages5.app and then copy my pages.app (9) over to my computer. I still had to play around with getting it to recognize the correct icon for each app in the menu bar.
I found a good comparison on both and agreed with its conclusion of pages 5, so I will be deleting 5 soon.
Richardf,
How did you still have a pages.app (9) if it was overwritten? Did you have a backup somewhere?
And is there any way to undo an "update" such as this from the Mac App Store?
Hi Jrezz,
I tried first re installing from the original dvd. This does not work, since it was a 2010 DVD and did not have all the updates installed since then. The 2010 version just does not run on Mavericks.
Luckily I had a backup in the iWork 09 folder. That is key. Pages should be version 4.3. If you are looking for keynote and numbers, they should be version 5.3 and 2.3.
I did not find a way to "undo" the update.
Thanks but as I mentioned above, the trial version I have will expire because I only downloaded it since I thought I needed it to "update" to 5.0. I do not have a key. However I DID purchase Pages '09 from the app store, and now it is gone. Is there a way to make the Trial version work indefinitely?
If you install from the DVD you have to do the updates for iWork '09 too.
Here is a link if  >Software Update Check doesn't help you. iWork 9.3
jrezz - if you don'y find you iWork application in the Application folder > iWork folder (they should be there if you have bought them) you can talk to the Appstore and tell them you problem. Others have got help and a DVD with iwork 09.
I gave a honest chance to Pages 5 but is a no-go
I don't care why but they killed the one feature that for me justified it all:
The white page on the black background (and nothing else unless you demand it)
Missing that is missing the whole point about a writing machine.
My feelings are with you. But as we've learned just because something is new and free it doesn't have to be better for what one is using it for!
Easy... Just Go open a Finder folder, Search for Pages. You'll see new Pages and version 9. If you have opened your current file in new Pages and if you think that you have done a lot of work on new version ( I know how much you spend for this ), you should then export your file as Pages 9. Then open your file in Pages9. Simply Go to your Dock, and keep the Pages 9 in your Dock to have it until Apple make a better upgrade not this silly version. Enjoy it...
Look in your applications folder and click the iworks folder, the older version 4.3 should be there. Also, if you downloaded the new pages 5, maybe rename it to Pages5 to avoid confusion and possible computer re-writing.
i can't downgrade brcause i reinstalled system files Booo Hoooo! I dont like functionality of new version either. ;( APPLE: Please fix new version so there is comatibility with contacts and mail.

Can I go back to earlier operating system? 🙂 NOT!
I agree. I was able to restore Pages 09 through Time Machine. I was a piece of cake.
Just wondering the exact steps you did to get Pages 4.3 from the Time Machine backup to put onto a new Macbook Pro. I won't be buying the new Macbook unless I can run Pages 4.3 on it. Until a future version of Pages allows text boxes to be linked, I will only run v4.3.
Just use Migration Assistant in your Utilities folder to migrate your software over.
I assume you would do that anyway.
Or reinstall from your original DVD or installer. Just make sure you upgrade to the latest iWork '09 v4.3.
