I've got this problem iMovie 10.0.5 is doing my head in. I have created a 20 minute home video - mix of small go pro clips and stills, with music and I can't share it anywhere. Keep getting error message -60 or -50. If I chose file and store on my desktop - it creates 15mins not 20. I just want to create a dvd. If I chose Theater it tells me to download Yosemite to store in the cloud and then bombs out with the error messages.

Oh and I've disk utlilied my hard drive. All ok.

ok I have found a solution my end and I hope it works for you guys.

I was in a situation where I had a 30 minute movie for my work and it wouldn't export due to error 60. It was disastrous!

I deleted any small clips of 0.5 length (1s plus is fine to leave alone) and I also got rid of any 0.5 transitions.

This simply worked for me, thank goodness. I hope anyone else who stumbles across this issue comes here and find this solution works as I know it is devastating.

I had a similar problem exporting a movie made up of a bunch of cell phone videos dumped from an android phone. I was getting Error 50 I checked the exported file and sure enough, every time, it was halting at the same place. I removed the offending clip and the rest rendered. I took the clip that was causing the problem and exported it through Quicktime and dropped the exported file back into iMovie and Voila! Success!

Hi all,

this day an friend of mine had the same problem; imovie did not share or upload any movie/file anywere.

It was hard to find out but i think we have solved it: make absolute sure there isnt any 'corrupt' file in your movie.

e.g.: we found out that imovie wasn't able to convert or deal with an avi-file.

To solve this problem, convert the avi-file with an free convert programm (downloaded for free from the apple store) to an .mov file.

Once addded the .mov files to the movie all went go straight uploading at facebook, sharing files everywhere we wanted.

Hope this will help you all out as well.

(just created an apple account to share this 🙂 )

Have an good day or night now!

Yes I think you have hit on it. When I gave iMovie time to finish the stabilization, it worked. Here is what I have found.

I have been getting the same error. Using a MAC 27" with OX X Yosemite 10.10.5 and iMovie 10.1.1. This is what I believe is happening. I am editing the movie and trying to do some stabilizing of movie clips. My project is a mixture of photos and movie clips. When I finally gave iMovie time to catch up on the editing, which I believe is happening in the background, exported the movie directly to the MAC hard drive, not a portable or YouTube, then it worked. It did take about 18 hours. I used 1080P, High, Better Quality for the export. Also, it seems to help to close iMovie and reopen before you export your project. Hope this helps.
