I hate the new tags in Mavericks, need coloured folders!!
Is there a way to return the colour folders when using the new tags like the old behavior of labels? These new circle thingees are too small and barely noticable.
OS X Mavericks (10.9)

If you're colorblind, that's pretty much how it works.
I seem to remember someone on one of these support discussions about labels/tags (can't seem to find it) saying that he preferred the old labels because he's colourblind and it made it easier to identify the colour. People with colourblindess don't just see all grey, they mostly still see most colours and just have a bit of difficulty differentiating between certain colours. And they can definitely see the shade of a colour, too. So yeah, the dots make it harder for the colourblind.
HEY! maybe Apple could hide the "bring back labels" feature as an accesibility feature 🙂
Loosing a full color text on folder or filename, I loose all I need from TAG/Label.
I use this feature to make in grphical evidence some files, and now with a ultra small coloured dot, i can't find anymore what I search on my folders...
I don't know why changed this logic without a switch to choose mode to come back function.
Also there are a way to make all happy. If only one TAG was selected, you make the coloured lable as old ML style label color mode, If multiple tag was selected, you can put the little coloured dots as actual style TAG.
Also with a preferece selection you can switch to full actual TAG modality and new one, with single TAG full coloured like ML label.
Easy, perfect, and all are happy !!!.
Bye
Well looks like "Path Finder 6 by Cocoatech" (google it) gives you all the old funtionality and more.
Might be a good workaround for you guys who rely heavily on a labeling system rather than a tag one until there's an official change or not.
Laralyn, it was Jason Snell at Macworld. He said: "As a somewhat colorblind person, I found the stacked circles [of multiple Tags] kind of hard to discern, but color cues like this are generally not designed for people like me."
As for Path Finder 6 by Cocoatech, Jumberbunch, $40 is surely a bit steep just to get the Labels back. It seems to be just a small part of what this complex app does. I've not actually tried it - has anyone here done so?
I rather think we're looking for a simpler one-hit fix, aren't we? Or, of course, for Apple to fix it in 10.9.1. I'm not holding my breath.
Oh, good quote, thanks 🙂 though I think I heard someone else say it, too..
anyway. yeah, PathFinder does more- but if nobody else fixes it, I'll gladly spend those 40 bucks. Though I hope TotalFinder by binaryage will also add bringing back labels as a feature, as TF is only 18 bucks and does a lot of other stuff too. I already added to the "Wish: Return Finder Labels to Mavericks" thread on binaryage's support forum. Feel free to join in.
Of course, best case scenario Apple brings back labels themselves.. but I am getting labels back, one way or another.

Thank you! I just downloaded Patfinder as it is a 30 day free trial. I immediately got my Labels back! YEAH!!! As the Mavericsk upgrade was free, the $40 is well worth feeling great again! Hmmmm, ever wonder is Apple owns Pathfinder and they knew that using tags would send a lot of Mac users to Pathfinder?? Naw, they wouldn't do that...would they?😝
awesome 🙂 what's the experience like? is it an app you run instead of the finder..? or it just patches the finder? is it possible to hide the other PF features? I don't think I particularly need anything other than labels.

Well...it is just AWESOME! Go here and see..https://twitter.com/Cocoatech/status/394930667034660864/photo/1
Apple has really made a major mistake going to tags only. I should buy stock in Pathfinder? LOL
yeah.. I posted that link first 🙂 I meant what is the rest of running PF like?
The problem with all of those alternate finder programs is that they can't completely replace finder. As far as I know any file management from other applications (such as saving or opening) will use the standard OSX finder.
That said they do look like they can do some good stuff...
yeah I agree, I'd prefer for Apple to fix it themselves.

Great to see a temporary solution has been found with Path Finder BUT we must not let Apple off the hook. Anybody reading this part of the forum for the first time, and wants Apple's colour labels reinstating, then please click the following link and let them know. We should not have to rely on third-party software for something that should already be included in Mavericks.
Agreed, Wizard. Apple should reinstate the colored labels. Have sent feedback to Apple.
