Wouldn't you be trying to sell your product to those who are actually purchasing the majority of the market sales? And in doing so, cater to them rather than those few who are struggling to keep up? I am 58, run professional Recording Studios and use thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of software. I was not forced to update. I don't used 'the Cloud' but I chose to. I could have stayed behind in Snow Loeopard or Mountain Lion, as you could have and not had my workflow changed at all. But the benefits of updating, for my company, well outweigh having to alter a couple of workflow practices.

So I really can't see the whinger's point except an inability or unwillingness to adjust or revert.

interesting observations Z. i think this is part of what makes listening to posters on this thread say that people are whining sound so juvenile. when people say that losing a functionality radically disrupts their workflow - it is not something that should be trivialized or otherwise put down.

i actually was on a PC for many, many years and this was the single feature i missed on a regular basis as an organizational tool.

getting this functionality back is one of the primary reasons i moved back to mac hardware in fact...

As Tony T1 said earlier

3 options:

1) Go back to Mountain Lion

2) Use Pathfinder (or another 3rd Party solution)

3) Wait a few months to see if Lables are brought back

Nothing else your constant complaining here will accomplish.

i am trying to understand the purpose - other than trying to provoke - of your calling another poster discussing the disruption this is causing to their work life a "whinger". isn't this contrary to apple forum guidelines? isn't it also contrary to common-sense posting where you try to post factual information and not simply opinion or passive agressive insults such as telling someone they are unable or unwilling to adjust?

you have a workflow that suits you and as such it sounds like you have no need to be on this thread other than to cudge since others are posting on the fact this significantly impacts /their/ worklife. i have a healthy amount of respect for your other posts and your wisdom regarding mac usage but if this is not an issue for you why bother to keep posting on this one?

i mean, i have a vested interest in this in the sense that i won't upgrade the desktop beyond mountain lion without some method of addressing this that makes sense to me and as such i am going to have to both put off buying a new destkop /and/ work on two different OS's for a couple of more years.

this is far from ideal - in any way i can imagine it.

fact of the matter is that for me - in coming back to the mac - that Finder is so pitifully weak for pro level users in comparison to Windows Explorer that if it hadn't have been for the colored files folder functionality i might have considered moving back to Windows...

Simply called some people whingers because tjey were whinging, with no effort on their part to do anything constructive. They were given the 3 options. They can take them or leave them. As can you, who seems to also be becoming one of the biggest complainers around here.

I guess you didn't read all of my post. I said that I think dumbing-down everything to cater solely to consumers, misses the point that many of those same people will eventually want to do more with their computers than just consume. It's the same cycle that's been going on forever- you start out at one level, and move up to something more advanced. If you take all the advanced function out of everything just catering to the more entry-level (even if that's currently your majority) you're eventually leaving many of them to outgrow you.

You say you use thousands of dollars worth of software. Great, so let's suppose that eventually ring-tone makers outnumber people that make pro-level recordings and need that software to actually have functions more advanced than just making cheesy background loops for YouTube videos or whatever.

Should those same sofware makers just consider you an old fossil unwilling to get with the new hip trends? Is the problem that you're unwilling to adjust to the new hipness, or that you just need professional tools to keep the things that help you actuallu create with them?

Can there possibly be some compromise, where the pro features are not compromised so that you can do whatever it is you need to get done, AND the person who makes 3 second loops can use the functions they need as well? (And that same person might even evetually grow into using the more advanced tools).

Or let's just dumb the whole thing down, cater only to the loop-maker's more limited needs right now, and when even he eventually outgrows the dumbed-down software, just cede that business to someone else.

Ask Apple. I really don't agree with or care about your opinions. I adjust quickly to changes.
