I hate the new tags in Mavericks, need coloured folders!!

Na. I'm all good. Believe it or not there are actually good people around these forums who need help and are willing to try to solve their issues. Others however, are just here to troll and thus get the answers or advice that they deserve. You, for example refuse to follow the advice given to you and are simply wasting everybody's time by being here. That, my friend, is Trolling, but being new here, I wouldn't expect you to understand. So perhaps you should either follow the advice given or take a break. Gotta go now, there are intelligent and friendly posters to help.

Interesting. This may mean that labels are merely disabled and not erradicated. You can possibly test this with setlabel if you have homebrew's osxutils installed (I don't have those ready at the moment, I'm still tuning up homebrew on Mavericks).

so please, let's stay on topic. My personal interpretation of the topic at hand is about labels, and how to get them back. Yes, I realize that PF is a workable solution. But you keep telling us to be happy with PF or downgrading to ML. I think there is more we could do. VascoFG suggested a solution involving setlabel and homebrew's osxutils but I'm not nearly technical enough to get on that. Of course I can't set any rules for this thread. But I think insulting people is considered pretty bad form, and you're doing it.

Another thing to do (other than sending apple feedback) is asking TotalFinder to implement labels as at least it is much more affordable than PathFinder. A few more people have already posted on the developer's support forum, so people might join in there if they'd like to have labels for $18 instead of $40.

Your post would have been deleted as it broke the TOU. Be aware that you agreed to them and then you break them. Others have found their posts here removed presumably for the same reason. Also people get frustrated at posters continually propping up someone else's thread with the same repetetive comments and yet do not wish to take the advice given. The three choices at present have been published here time after time. I get sick of seeing threads come to the top with the same unproductive comments, especially when it is only a select few keeping the tread going. I know of some very respected contributers here who won't even boter with threads like these, They appear after ever OSX upgrade and eventually die out.

Keep giving feedback as yu have been, but all these posts will do nothing for your cause.

Yeah Pete, I hear you. The chances are slim. But it's possible that labels will be brought back by users finding this thread and sending feedback. It. is. possible. And that's enough for me to keep posting.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I sent Apple feedback about a few Mavericks issues.. but only once per issue. One user flooding them with feedback over one issue wouldn't be something I'd do. But it is an issue I care about, which means this is a valid place for me to express my opinions to other users.

I for one am not happy with the current "workable solutions", therefore as long as this thread is open I can make appropriate on-topic posts.

In all seriousness, if neither going back to Mountain Lion (and waiting to see if Labels are brought back), nor Pathfinder (or other 3rd party tools) are "workable solutions", then you are somehow able to work without Labels, and their demise is not as bad as you would have us believe.

I've asked numerous times (not to you personally), what's in Mavericks that would prevent users who need Labels to downgrade. I do not recall even one response to this question.

Okay then, I'd like to re-post Wizard_Magic_Spell's post, which I thought summed it up quite well:

Great to see a temporary solution has been found with Path Finder BUT we must not let Apple off the hook. Anybody reading this part of the forum for the first time,and wants Apple's colour labels reinstating,then please click the following link and let them know. We should not have to rely on third-party software for something that should already be included in Mavericks.

Pardon the repetition, I just want new people joining the thread and looking around not to get discouraged. If you haven't already, send feedback to Apple, or share your thoughts on labels here. A few pages back we were sharing what meanings we had given the different label colours; I'm always curious to hear about that because I wonder if the colours are intrinsically linked with certain things, or if it's mostly random.

I still think Labels and Tags should be 2 different entities. They're not the same thing and serve 2 different functions. One is a visual aid and the other is a search device.
