Thank you for suggesting these apps. Yes, I have tried these apps.
However, I have people who are trained in EndNote and have been using the app for years going back ot my days at Harvard.
Another issue that is not a problem for me is cost. As a long time customer, I can upgrade at a fraction of the retail price. We also receive research discounts.
All of that aside, I am constantly on the lookout for anything that does something faster and better than what we are using. And, I have no hesitatoin in dithing out of an application for some legitimate purpose. For example, we use Adobe InDesign 6 for all of our heavy lifting.
However, for our routine douments, Pages 4 works better. Presentation quality and fromatting are vitally important to what we do. Word does not give us the we get with InDesign. The styles area of Pages is vastly easier to use thant Word. So, we made the change to Pages.
I also shouldl say that I do all of my own work. I have made a substantial investment over the years in creating templates and standards for work flows that produce results at the level of quality and design I require. I
In addition, it is very important that we be able to move all of our work products around for differenct purposes, including publising to the web. And, I use graphics in creating HD videos with Final Cut Pro X.
Consequently, we use a number of apps in our work. Pages is one of them, and it is valuable for certain purposes, not everything by any means. For my heavy lifting in writing manuscripts, I use special Word templates that I have reated. Work does a fine job of creating TOC LOF and internal cross references. I move back and forth between oontent and the top level TOC and LOFs in making sure my work is going the way I want it to.
Finally, another excellent app for createive writers is Scrivener. HIghly recommended.
I hope this is helpful.
