Canon Pixma ip4000

Has anyone tried using this printer on OSX 10.9 yet? Does it work? I emailed Canon customer support and they say it is not supported by 10.9, which is annoying to say the least. I don't want to get get rid of a decent printer just because Canon haven't updated the driver for Mavericks.

They never updated the driver for 10.7, so its not surprising that there is no driver for 10.9.

But fear not, I have tested Gutenprint v5.2.9 on OS X 10.9 and it works and it lists your iP4000 as a supported model. Note that Gutenprint is not signed, so you will need to Control-click on the installer and select Open from the pop-up window to get past Gatekeeper.

I believe that the iP4200 does not have built-in network so you would have the printer connected via USB cable to a print server / wireless router. Is this correct?

As for what is different in Mavericks, from what I have seen I don't think that there is any difference to 10.8 or 10.7 with regards to the network connections for printing.

I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.9 and when I connect the Canon Pixima IP 4000 it works fine. We purchased a new iMac to replace an old one and the printer will sometimes print one job after startup and then hang. I downloaded the Gutenprint 5.2.9 driver hoping that would work but I see from the thread that it doesn’t. Do you know the name of the library folder on my MacBook Pro that would hold the driver that is working so I can copy it to the iMac? Or, I still have a Time Machine backup up from the old iMac that I could search also.
