Mail Can't Open & com.apple.internetaccount process hogging 100% CPU

Desperately seeking answers after Mavericks install..

My mail crashed and now won't open at all. I've tried most (if not all) the suggestions posted by others. Haven't tried deleting and reinstalling mail yet, as this will be my last resort since I have a work account in it that is not on IMAP.

And another troubling issue is my macbook's fan is going crazy and feels like its overheating.

Looking at "Activity Monitor" I see a process "com.apple.internetaccounts" that is taking 100% CPU and 1.6GB of memory!!

No idea what this process is and can't seem to quit it.

PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks in advance

Did you get your Mac used? If so, did it come with Mavericks on it? Because that copy of Mavericks can be linked to the previous owners Apple ID, if they are the one who downloaded it.

At any rate, try this: cancel out of that login window. In the App Store, click on the Featured button at the top of the window. On the right-hand side, under Quick Links, click on "welcome [name]", or Account directly under that. Does the resulting login window have a Sign Out button? If so, click on Sign Out and try to log in using your own Apple ID.

If you do succeed in that, try downloading the Mavericks updater again. It still may insist on that other person's Apple ID password.

If so, you can always go to Apple's website and download the manual updater.

You will need to download it, then mount the resulting dmg, then run the installer that's inside the dmg. No username or password for your Apple ID is required, just your Mac account password to authorize the install.
