Mavericks Deleted My Notes
After updating to 10.9 all my notes are gone. 😟
I have no Time Machine installed, no iCloud backup or anything.
Is there anyway i can restore them in the system?
Thanks!

I don't understand what "and replace the one in the existing files with a 2" means... I have another problem, when I go to
file:///Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes /
I only have 3 files with V7 in their names, no files with V2 in their name...
Can you help me please ?
Hi ...
It may take some time for your notes to show after enabling notes in icloud settings.
For me it took more than 10 min.
Try disabling and then re-enabling notes in icloud settings, and give it some time.
Regards
Dennis
My notes was sadly never stored in iCloud in the first place. Only local on my machine.
I just see an empty note app like this: http://d.pr/i/dI3k
So i am lookin for a way to restore them from my local disk. Is this even possible?
go to file:///Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes /
delete the files with a V2 in their name, and replace the one in the existing files with a 2. Then open up notes and they are all there.
This worked for me also. Only took a few seconds, even with over 150 notes that I have. After you uncheck Notes in iCloud settings, you will be asked if you want to delete notes on your computer. When you recheck Notes, the Notes stored in your iCloud account will download and appear in the Notes app on your computer.
Perhaps I'm missing something here, but when I go to the directory you give I see only V2 (e.g., NotesV2......) and nothing that is otherwise "existing". Are you suggesting to replace "V2" with "1" or what.
While I have "On My Mac" as the default location (moved from iCloud with all of the NSA nonsense), I also tried mmd's click/unclick suggestion to no avail.
Only some of my notes are missing, which is all quite strange.
Thanks in advance.
This worked for me, thanks!
I have the same problem, but when I'm in finder and I click my username, there's no library folder...
Here's what worked for me...
1) Go to System Preferences on your Mac and click iCloud
2) Uncheck "Notes" and it will ask you if you want to delete the notes from your Mac
3) Click "Delete From My Mac" and let it do it's thing
4) Then re-check the "Notes" button and you should be good to go
Now I can create a note on my iPhone and it will show up in my Notes app on my Macbook.
Likewise, I can create a note in my Notes app on my Mackbook and it will show up on my iPhone.
Solved my issue as well!

i couldn't find the folder by clicking through in finder but when I copied and pasted
file:///Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes /
into safari, (and, of course put in my USERNAME) it took me right there.
AND IT WORKED!
Thanks KarlFromUS
I have tried every single thing that's listed in the previous discussion and none of it has worked for me. All my previous Notes are gone and nothing replaces them. Should I just give up on the whole thing? Or give up on Mavericks?
