Powerbutton makes my Macbook Air go straight to sleep

Since i updated to Mavericks my Macbook Air goes straight to sleep when i push the power button. That is REALLY annoying because it breaks up my internet connection everytime.

If i want to go to sleep mode i just close my Macbook. Why would anyone need 2 options to go to sleep mode?

How can i fix this?

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion

This hasn't been much of a problem for me since I have a Late 2007 MBP, but I've noticed it too. I recently updated Mavericks and it seems to be gone. I haven't entered any Terminal commands or anything, so I guess Apple has fixed it.

EDIT: Apple has changed the amount of time needed to put the laptop to sleep. It is no longer a single tap on the power button, it's a longer hold. If it's shorter than what is needed for the dialogue box, the laptop will be put to sleep.
