Photoshop CS6 UNWORKABLE on Mavericks!

Hello fellow "apples" 🙂

I've a late 2012 Macbook Pro (non retina) with 2,6 GHz i7 8GB Ram and 750HDD

Since i've updated the OS to mavericks yesterday I've been struggling with photoshop CS6, it can work just fine for a minute to completely freeze for a few or even 10 or so seconds ( sometimes even more ) until it will respond. This issue had not existed in Mountain Lion. I've also noticed that the sound voulume bar can be laggy, it jumps a few dots instead of steady increments .

Now i'm an artist not a tech guy, but my guess will be it has something to do with the new memory allocation thing, anyhow it made my life really difficult as i cannot work in PS anymore, and that's a serious stab... Someone should fix that really fast as being a freelance artist and illustrator I've lost a tool that gets the food on my table, if we won't get a fix asap some heads should roll.... :/

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Icecoldart, you're not alone. I have Photoshop CS6 on my iMac 24-inch, Early 2009 running Mavericks (OSX 10.9). It seems that it happens after a few 10-20 mins and freezes up the whole computer for 10+ second. It's gotta have something to do with the memory for sure. Hopefully Adobe will send out a update soon.

You just can’t put a good troll down.

So whilst the white menu issue has been resolved, albeit with a plug-in, others (like the default persist background switch keys not working, other keystrokes not working, Ps6 hanging etc) persist

If not already seen, most helpful solution offering threads here:

Wonderful. I hope they solve your individual problems. I still do not have any issues with Photoshop or any of the other CS6 programs. But maybe I am more cautious as to what plugins and filters I installed. Who knows, but as I say, It does not seem to be a problem for the vast majority.

Count me in the vast majority. CS6 Extended is running flawlessly on both my 6-year old iMac with Mavericks and my brand new MacBook Pro with Mavericks.

Reply to all users facing problems with PS6 on Mavericks: it's not wise at all to be carried away by sweet talk and sweet demos at Apple showing their latest OS when in fact upgrading will be full of pain with applications not working! Apple has to slow down introducing new operating systems just to say that the best OS just got better when in fact it's not better at all. I always wait at least 1 YEAR before upgrading and I only upgrade not to fall behind with getting the latest OS since when when the latest OS is released the previous one is removed from the app store. Apple has to slow down and ensure better backwards compatibility. Windows software is even compatible with XP a 14 year old OS. Not the same with Apple as the minimum requirements dont go prior to 10.5 thats 2005! APPLE TAKE NOTE SLOW DOWN AND RESPECT US CUSTOMERS

I guess you feel helpful explaining to people that thier problems are in the minority. Perhaps you also believe that people imagine that everyone else has the same problem as them and your job is to disabuse them of that conviction: this is a very worthwhile occupation and these forums must be the ideal environment for your skills with so many threads at your disposal: the important thing is that it is therapeutic for you. I wish you well

For those that DO have problem with PsCC or PsCS6, apparently Adobe now have moved on to other priorities. I have uninstalled psCS6 and gone back to psCS5 which has removed all the issues entirely. I think the ball sits squarely in Adobe's, not Apple's, court on this particular issue.

OK, to add to the fracas, here is my problem too ;-( I'm working on a brandnew iMac 27", Maverick X.9.2 and Photoshop CS6 with 32Gb working memory. Opening a NEW file in Photoshop, doing a ton of things, putting it away onder various names, it all works blindingly fast. No problem whatsoever.

But... when I open an EXISTING pict, including any new one, and try that to put away under another name there it is, the beachball and nothing more; Photoshop is frozen. Cleaned out Photoshop's Preferences, threw out any external plug-in, but to no avail. After a couple of hours I threw in the towl. Any idea, folks? (I'm almost in tears) ;-)

did you try the plug in Adobe supplied linked here?http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/keyboard_shortcuts_not_res ponding_photoshop_cs6_mavericks?utm_content=topic_link&utm_medium=email&utm_sour ce=reply_notification

it's not a perfect solution but seesm to do the trick for most

Apparently the video whatsit is also to blame, people with certain video oojamaflips seem to get the problems more, so the pleas for updated drivers are out to the video whatsit manufacturers too - Apple forthcoming upgrade (10.9.3) is rumoured to be aimed at solving the video GPU problems
