Photoshop CS6 UNWORKABLE on Mavericks!

Hello fellow "apples" 🙂

I've a late 2012 Macbook Pro (non retina) with 2,6 GHz i7 8GB Ram and 750HDD

Since i've updated the OS to mavericks yesterday I've been struggling with photoshop CS6, it can work just fine for a minute to completely freeze for a few or even 10 or so seconds ( sometimes even more ) until it will respond. This issue had not existed in Mountain Lion. I've also noticed that the sound voulume bar can be laggy, it jumps a few dots instead of steady increments .

Now i'm an artist not a tech guy, but my guess will be it has something to do with the new memory allocation thing, anyhow it made my life really difficult as i cannot work in PS anymore, and that's a serious stab... Someone should fix that really fast as being a freelance artist and illustrator I've lost a tool that gets the food on my table, if we won't get a fix asap some heads should roll.... :/

Icecoldart, you're not alone. I have Photoshop CS6 on my iMac 24-inch, Early 2009 running Mavericks (OSX 10.9). It seems that it happens after a few 10-20 mins and freezes up the whole computer for 10+ second. It's gotta have something to do with the memory for sure. Hopefully Adobe will send out a update soon.

Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB

Software: OS X 10.9 (13A603)

I have Adobe CS 4 and CS6 installed and running fine. I got rid of CS5 as I never was fond of it. As for the new Adobe CC well, not for me, but others I know are having no trouble with it. I have seen people have problems with old plugins/filters which are no longer supported in Mavericks. Otherwise, I have had no hiccups and use it every day.

Cheers

If this ever gets back to normal, it will take time to re-learn that you can use the keyboard without having to click on the panel every time.

as being helpful and a breakdown of their setup?

And yet my comment of

has no relevance and less technical input?

i just bought a new macbook pro with added ram and processor speed so i could run adobe creative suite products. i had cs2 on my old macbook pro, and it always ran slow, but i was perfectly satisfied with cs2. i use adobe products, especially photoshop, all the time, but don't need the creative cloud. i was hoping to download a legacy cs6 package from amazon and be on my merry way. this conversation has completely depressed me. of course my new computer has mavericks. i tried the free cs2 download from adobe, but i guess it won't work with my processor. here's my question:

if i download adobe cs6 from amazon, is it going to work on this brand new, never had any adobe stuff on it, mavericks-running workbook pro of mine?

Hi Robgipe

I brought the new 15" macbook pro retina (late 2013) with the higher spec. Assured by staff at KRCS it's spec is far more than sufficient. Which I'm sure it is. I dont think this particular problem is about power. I was told its the perfect tool for the job (Illustrating in photoshop) but In practise It is not. I have the same problem (almost) everyone in this thread has.

"if i download adobe cs6 from amazon, is it going to work on this brand new, never had any adobe stuff on it, mavericks-running workbook pro of mine?"

I've had the problem, fresh mac, mavericks fresh install of CC (trail version- no previous version installs). Attempted all the different "fixes" in this thread. No posititive outcome.

Hangs frequently when using different tools. Clicking the tool panels "brings it back to life" temporarily if you spot the hang earlier on. If you don't you may have to wait quite some time for the system to catch up.

Perhaps its not a universal issue. You might get lucky but its the final straw for me.

I was looking at buying a new mouse. User reviews suggest maverick has issues. This computer although it looks nice feels like its been one big over priced pain in the arse.

Fortunately I brought from John Lewis who have agreed to give me a full refund.

Over 10 years of using MAC. I'm going back to Windows (not looking forward to it!).

Also charging £25 for vga / ethernet adapters. That's another kick in the teeth. After spending over 2 grand it would be nice to see them included in the box (like they use to be).

John Lewis had put me through to apple support to try and resolve the issue some time ago. Apples view was that is not a problem with the Mac and therefore something to take up with adobe.
