osx Mavericks can't save scanned documents with hp scanjet

I have installed osx Maverics yesterday and I can't save my scanned documents. I'm using hp scanjet G2710. When I try to save I'm getting this message:

"An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to. Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only."

I'm pretty sure my HP Scan started working a few weeks before Yosemite came out. I had been on Mavericks for many months. I assume there was some update that fixed it. Then, after I was on Yosemite and everything was working well, I bought a new Mac Pro. When I migrated everything from my old iMac to my new Mac Pro HP Scan stopped working. It would crash. After much digging I figured out that not all directories had been migrated over. I had to manually copy over everything in "/Library/Printers/hp/" and "/Library/Image Capture/Support/Hewlett-Packard/". I used rsync to copy the files over. After that HP Scan was working again.

You do want the latest drivers, but you get them from Apple. While HP might also offer you drivers, they no longer offer you the old software suite that included the HP Scan software. In my case, for my old C4280 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, the software suite included "HP Product Registration.app", "HP Customer Participation.app", "HP Photosmart Create.app", "HP Photosmart Edit.app", "HP Photosmart Print.app", "HP Photosmart Share.app", "HP Photosmart Stitch.app", "HP Photosmart Studio.app", "HP Uninstaller.app", "HP Utility.app", and "HP Scan.app" . They still work. I have no idea why HP no longer offers or supports them.
