iMac late 2013 + Mavericks + USB Sennheiser - input freeze

Hi

Since Mavericks i have a problem with my USB Sennheiser Headset.

When i connect it directly to the iMac, every time i start FaceTime or mumble, after 30 seconds? 1 Minute? the microphone get very noisy/scratchy.

After i attached an old USB 2.0 Hub to the iMac and connect the USB Headset to the USB hub, the Microphone is ok.

But after that i had 3 times freeze of all input devices ( usb Mouse, wireless magick mouse, wireless keyboard) in 6 hours.

I need to hard shutdown the system.

Last time i saw this error message in the log.

24.10.13 22:56:03,000kernel[0]vtd[0] fault: device 0:20:0 reason 0x6 R:0x1305000
24.10.13 22:56:03,000kernel[0]USBF: 9437.472 AppleUSBXHCI::UIMCheckForTimeouts - HSE bit set:15 (1)

Someone have some idea?

Thx

René

I also still have the problem with Sennheiser headset. Sound starts to make scratching voice on the other end of the call after few minutes. The headset works fine with my old mid 2009 MacBook Pro running Maverics. The update did make it better than it was, but I still can't use my Imac(3TB Fusion Drive) costing 2700,- euros on my voip-calls. Frustrating.

I'm thinking of taking this Imac back to Apple store and getting my money back. I'm getting so frustrated with Apple's way of doing these things nowadays. I think we should all take our Imac computers(with Fusion Drive) back to Apple, maybe they would really do something with this problem after getting tens of thousands Imacs returned...

UPDATE: A few weeks ago I posted that I was having problems with some of my USB devices since I upgraded to Mavericks. I found out the reason, and it's embarassing: My upgrade to Mavericks happened at the same time that I purchased a new computer and desk, and it turns out that in the process of unplugging and re-conneting all my devices I plugged the wrong power cord on my USB hub. This basically fried the hub and everything connected to it. A trip to the Apple store confirmed this (for instance, their in-store keyboard worked in my USB port but my keyboard from home was dead on any computer they tried it on). Anyway, I bought a new hub and new peripherals and now all is fine! An expensive lesson but an important one.

Thanks to all of you who offered your help and advice. I really appreciate it.

Well I have a MBP late 2011 and I´m having the same issue. Pluging in a Sennheiser Heasdset with a Creative USB soundcard a few minutes later all participants of Teamspeak complain about a metallic robotic echo sound coming from me. It vanishes after 30min+

Running a SSD with Mavericks. But the problem occured also in 10.7 with a normal HDD.

Tryed a cord adaptor for splitting the 3.5mm jack but it didn´t work for me. He didn´t recognize the external microphone. Will try that Sennheiser PCV05.....

Sadly around the same time as the pages/safari updates this reverted for me.

The Audio will deterioate over the course of 2-5 minutes. Unlike before I don't have to restart the machine a hour later it might be fine, then a hour after that it might degrade again.

For a month it worked perfectly and I have no idea why it has changed again.
