Flagged folder in Mail, in Mavericks

In Mavericks on my iMac, I have a "Flagged" Mail folder that shows "7", but it's empty. This started with Mavericks. I don't think I have any flagged messages, but if I do, I can't find them because of the empty folder. Is there any way I can resolve this, so I don't have that "7" hanging around? (I've restarted Mail, to no avail.)

The second of two methods in this MacObserver post fixed my Flagged counter, which is to run the following terminal command (Lion to Yosemite ONLY, there is an alternative command for Snow Leopard):

sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope\ Index vacuum

The first is to delete the envelope files in ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData as mentioned in this thread earlier — for some reason this didn't resolve my issue.

1) Quit Mail.

2) In Finder, press Shift-Comand-G, and in the "Go to the folder:" box, enter:

~/library/mail/V2/maildata

3) Drag the following files to the Trash:

Envelope Index

Envelope Index-shm

Envelope Index-wal

ExternalUpdates.storedata

ExternalUpdates.storedata-shm

ExternalUpdates.storedata-wal

FlagMailboxes.plist

4) Start Mail; it should tell you it needs to reimport all your Mail messages; allow it to do so.

When this process is complete, you may see Flagged messages are once again indicated, but this time when you select the Flagged mailbox you should see the messages Mail thinks are flagged, and you should be able to take whatever action you want on those messages (unflag, delete, etc.)

5) Reboot before restarting the Mail app, otherwise you won't be able to empty your trash.
