I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

For people having this problem, I wonder if the power button still works. When this problem once happened to me, the power button still worked. I connected an external mouse, and was able to restart the Mac.

So, it might not actually be a freeze. It might just be a keyboard and trackpad issue.

Mine 1st freeze was similar to what someone else said: a music file continued to play but the keyboard and mouse were unresponsive. Took a hard power down. Second time it resolved itself after about 5 min.

Mine is the 8G, 512G, 2.6 Mghz model.

This is my first Mac, a wanna-be PC convert. Now I'm having second thoughts, this is all eerily familiar. The fact that there has been no official response from Apple creeps me out. Shopping around for a new PC, considering a return... why pay more for the same?

Moosebear you made a wise desission to chose your mac. It is a great tool. Just for all of you just be patients, it is just few days this device is out and it is not even the device that is the problem. It is in the mavericks new osx. So no worry apple will come with some update to fix this. I am sure they are ware of this discussion here.

Just had my 2nd freeze. Used my airmouse app on iPhone to take control of keyboard/trackpad, was going to do a restart but thought I'd have a look around first. Nothing obvious in Console. Went to System Preferences, Trackpad, tried ticking/unticking a few options to no avail. I then clicked "Set Up Bluetooth Trackpad" and my keyboard/trackpad came back to life on the MBP.

Maybe it's bluetooth related? I believe there's a 'wake on bluetooth' option for external keyboards etc.

Has anyone suffered the freeze with bluetooth off?
