I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

Guys, I've been having the same problem with my macbook pro retina 13' 2,6 gh. The freeze happened 3 times between saturday and sunday. I looked up old forums, that described similar problems and someone suggested a simple restart pressing command+alt+p+r. I've been using my mac all sunday evening and monday morning and have had no problems so far.

Try it, it is harmless and it might solve your problem.

Hi! I also just got the new 13-inch MBP retina with 8GB ram with 256GB SSD and I also have been experiencing exactly the same problem that many users are reporting on this thread. It seems like the problem is related to the following frequently recurring message:

kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)

One thing I found is that if an Apple Magic Mouse is connected to the machine, the above error message no longer appears. I still have not yet experienced a freeze with the Magic Mouse paired to the machine (knock on wood) so hopefully this can be a temporary solution until Apple issues a fix for this.

I've already left feedback with Apple and am hoping that Apple can fix this problem soonest.

I've just reordered the mid spec 8gb ram 256ssd after returning the one I purchased from a retail store in Glasgow, Scotland last week. I too had the same issues faced. Tried a number of fixes to no avail and wanted the swap the machine, but they were out of stock of that uni.

Will post once I receive the new laptop and let you know if the issues remain.

Anyone experiancing issues on a 15"

So far not, looks like it's only the 13" rMBP.

Install Mountain Lion

I am pretty sure you can downgrade - you would backup data (not that you have any data to back up because of OSX Mavericks), then wipe the OSX Partition, and Install Mountain Lion or install Windows. No issues on the Windows side.
