New Retina Macbook pro 13 Haswell system hang/unresponsive

Yeah mine is using the NVIDIA discrete graphics card and appears to really frozen when I have opened up chrome. I checked the system logs and nothing appears up I have a video of the problem though.

I've seen the problem more when Chrome is running then when it is not. Since Chrome heavily uses things like GPU acceleration and multithreading, the problem could be anywhere. For me the problem manifests in filesystem access — any process that touches the file system hangs.

I'm new to my late 13 Macbook pro retina. I'm having problems with my trackpad freezing , and I don't use chrome but safari . could the problem we are all expericing could be the flash player that's causing the trackpad freezing.

I just hope it is a software problem and not a hardware problem. So that eventually through time it will be solved.

It might be a software problem, but it only manifests itself on some hardware. I have two MacBook Air 2012 i7 machines that are ROCK solid - My new MacBook Retina crashes more often than a Windows 95 machine in 1996 with malware on it.

So, I am about to get the ME865B/A and this seems to be the faulty model. what should I do? wait until apple resolves this issue or just buy it and hope for the best.

I believe that the problems described in the title of this thread have already been addressed by a firmware update that any new Mac will already have.

I think that you're safe to buy. You're in UK, correct?

Haven't you followed recent messages in this thread? The issues with MacBook Pro Retinas are still there, both 13" and 15" - unresolved. As I wrote in my previous message, I have two MacBook Air 2012 i7 that are completely stable - my new late-2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15" get freeze/hangups all the time. It's a bit more stable if you avoid Chrome though.

I've been following the thread - and what I meant to imply is that I've not seen many posts in quite awhile having problems with "system hang(s)/unresponsive(ness)"

Some other problems, but I don't think that they're across the board or pandemic or this thread would be MUCH more active!

Daath beat me to the punch, but I can't understand why people who don't have this problem continue to call it "resolved" when clearly its not. I've installed all firmware updates, I've reformatted my system, etc, and I still have problems with my system hanging, crashing and occasionally being unresponsive for 10 or so seconds, so no, for me personally, its not resolved and I've done everything that a new MBPR would have.

My advice to a buyer is to go ahead and buy, but keep a close eye on your system during the 14 day return window (or maybe its more in the UK), I spent those 2 weeks trying to troubleshoot my system and then couldn't return it after it was clear the problem wasn't a simple bad system install or something. If you see any problems in those 2 weeks, return it for cash and get a different one. My personal advice.

That area is super expensive, only millionaires live there

So only the retina display mbp's are experiencing such issues?

I was pretty well off at the time - still a law student, though, but well off enough to buy a flat (grandfather left me comfortable and I invested in real estate - and it paid off quite well).

It seems as though it's the newer 13" Retina models that are having the majorities of problems - haven't heard of many 15" Retina models having any massive problems.

Maybe you want to look at a 15"? As I've observed, there's no pandemic problems with the 13", though.
