The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Could anyone tell me what is going on or having the same issue?

I have baught a rMBP 5 weeks ago , up to now I have changed this coputer three times . First time after 10 days or so- It froze often and could not work with it ( no Chrome, just Safari and microsoft word and excel documents open). The first was replaced by a new one and this latter had another problem; the electric cord did not hold ( looze, not enough magnet). They repalced this second by new one - out of the box, two days later freeze problem ( same than ebove , just safaria dn microsoft excel and word and ppt were open) . I have called apple care and they did not provide any substantial answer other than I go to the store , I baught it in and find a solution there ( I understand the customer service guy , his job is at stake ; he would not confirm the problem and avoided want aknowledging it exists). He mentioned though that this problem may not exist with Macbook AIR which I doubt now.

So far what has worked for me is staying in Windows. It does not happen when booting under Windows using Boot Camp. I've also noticed that if you plug in a USB mouse or use a Bluetooth mouse, the problem doesn't exist. It's only the internal keyboard and trackpad. The system itself doesn't freeze, the system just lacks the ability to use the builtin keyboard and trackpad. I can also confirm that this has existed since release for me, and that it's actually gotten worse with every update. (Firmware update/10.9.1)

Very disappointed.

The problem happens to me when I am using a thunderbolt dock. I don't have a problem when I don't use Chrome.

This is probably a hardware bug that is being exercised by an OS bug, and probably some sort of weird interaction between the USB subsystem and the GPU. That's probably why it shows up more when Chrome is used — it may exercise the GPU in different ways.

Usually when I open chrome it randomly crashes. I have tried looking at the logs, it doesn't record the moment in time which is understandable I guess. I would return it, and use video recording and show the apple store guys I think they will understand. So when it crashes just take a video. Then mark the times and then tell the apple store people look, this is not useable. I am sure they will understand. I have already taken 4 videos of crashes. I think after it reaches 10 I should return it.

3 weeks old rMBP 15", i7, 16/512 GB. First hang last night. Nothing connected. Chrome never installed. Hang occurred while watching movie on DVD player out of iso image. The system was completely unresponsive.

Second hang happened this morning. The DVD player was working for couple of minutes then froze. I forced it to quit but didn't reopen. Then I was working on Remote Desktop when it happened. Connected only Apple Mouse via Bluetooth. Again - total unresponsiveness.

Early 2013 rMBP 13" 8/512 GB, one month new (bought from MacMall). This has happened several times (5-6) times for me so far. Does not seem to be associated with any specific application (though I am usually running Safari and Chrome). For most of the crashes I have not had any USB devices attached.

I get a Previous Shutdown Cause: 3 or -112 afterwards but nothing at the time of the crash.
