New Retina Macbook pro 13 Haswell system hang/unresponsive

Hello Everyone.

I have just got my new macbook pro retina 13 Haswell (October Model). This is my second day of usage and i have encountered sudden system freeze for 2 times already. The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Could anyone tell me what is going on or having the same issue?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

Same issue. Just got mine today. 13.3", 2.8 i7, 16GB / 256GB ... Not thrilled.

Same issue here. Mine is 13" retina mcbook pro 8Gb 500 GB i5 2.6ghz processor. It froze one time in 2 days. I had to hard reset the laptop through the power button. No other options.

Btw, I'm very surprised that such an bug didn't show up during Apple's Mavericks/hardware tests. It's very obvious, and every MBP/iMac is having it, so it's strange.

Same problem with my new i5/256gb/8gb bought online. The problem disappers by putting the macbook to sleep. hope they fix it in a SW or FW update.

Well not really, as this topic is labled:

So, in essance, this is about the 13" MacBook Pro Haswell (Late 2013).

If the need is there, then I can do a questionaire about non-notebook. If the iMacs tend to lock up, then it is probably a OSX Mavericks issue - it should be resolved soon. (Well, everything here is a Mavericks issue sadly)

Have the same issue here. mbp 2013 i5 256gb 8gb ram. Froze 3 times this week.

Filled a feedback note to apple and the google doc.

Just called with support...do an SMC and PRAM reset, then created a test admin account and using only this one for testing purpose. At the moment no freeze...I really don't know why they told me to do test with a new acocunt :|

It is not a bad idea to add others. I to had the issue on a 2009 13" MBP 2.26 ghz Core 2 Duo running Mavericks the interesting thing is that I restore the machine to Mountain Lion lastest build and it happened once so far. Never happend untill I upgraded. It was running Lion prior with zero issues. Seems very likley at this point it is software related after reading about this for two hours.
