New Retina Macbook pro 13 Haswell system hang/unresponsive

Hello Everyone.

I have just got my new macbook pro retina 13 Haswell (October Model). This is my second day of usage and i have encountered sudden system freeze for 2 times already. The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Could anyone tell me what is going on or having the same issue?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

I was prompted to install this by Software Update, and I did. It made no difference. Also the description of the update lists nothing to do with keyboard or trackpad.

There's no difference - I think this is a waste of time and those that reinstalled probably haven't re-hit the problem.

Build 13A2093 is the same if you do a reinstall!

Also the build numbers suggests the 13" rMBP got something different to all the others. I think 13A603 on the 15" is also the same build as on older Macs?

I tried the reinstall but I'm just going to revert to my Time Machine backup now, since the builds are the same. Too much hassle redoing it all again.

Hey guys,

My 13" rMBP is just gone into dispatch so I can't cancel it :-(. Its fully speced up too 2.8GHz/16GB Ram/1TB SSD

But I do not think this is an issue totally with the 13inch rMBP or any new rMBP

I am currently running a 15" mid 2010 MBP. I has be crashing quite a lot recently. I have never checked the console btw.

Anyway I searched my conslole now and I had this come up "The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup"

So I am guessing this is an issue with Mavericks and hopefully not a 13" hardware issue.

Anyway my 2 cents...

That software update is only to be applied to Build 13A2093 aka special build for the 13" rMBP only... it will be the same build before/after applying the update.

Build 13A603 is the release OSX 10.9 Mavericks for other Macs.

It looks like the problem is indeed just the 13" rMBPs, which got a special build.

I am running build 13A603 and I have this error message in my console for my 15" mid 2010 MBP...

I am waiting delivery on mt 13inch rMBP and certainly hope this is not an issue specific to that model!

Even If you go awhile w/out experiencing the issue, how do you know if its resolved? Its looking like Im gonna return it to Apple until they come out and say that its resolved and fixed!!!

I havent had it freeze up in the last 2 days but how do I know if its not gonna freeze in the future if Apple has not addressed this issue at all.

Someone mentioned that plugging in his iPhone would unfreeze the computer. That could make sense as you're forcing the USB hardware and drivers to wake up.

Can anyone check if leaving a USB device (any device) plugged in all day prevents the freeze from occuring?

Same issues here on my 13". Up to three freezes per day for the past days.

Changed my energy saving settings yesterday to kick in only after a longer period of time (1 hour). Since then: All seems good.

May I ask some fellow users here to test this method on their machines?
