I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

The number of responses you see that are from 13" late-2013 rMBP failures should tell you something. While there might be some issues on other Macs, one can be pretty sure that something else is up with regards to just the 13" late-2013 rMBPs.

Also only the 13" late-2013 has this special Build 13A2093 of Mavericks, the 15" seems to be using vanilla 13A603 builds that are on others too.

Hi. Same here as well. One night it just froze. I haven't read all of this thread (it's a bit long at this point...), but so far this only happened to me once, and it was when the machine was plugged in. Did it happen to you when it was on battery power as well?

My configuration is 13"/2.4/4GB/128GB.

I've got the trackpad error message thing in my log all the time - constantly - like every minute, even when I haven't got the issue. Anyone know what that means? Is it normal? Example below.

Summer 2012 15' Retina 16Gb memory 512Gb SSD Bluetooth mouse & keyboard.

problem started yesterday (it is possible that before yesterday I had something plugged into USB port all the time). "Freeze" was happening immidiately after reboot. (NOTE: It was not full freeeze. Mouse was still moving around and some animations were still running on the screen). It seems that Menu bar apps were the one which were really frozen (also I had some strange symptoms with Finder and Dock). Sometimes trick with closing the led for few min did help.

Reinstall from recovery partition did not help. However, reinstall from iTunes - did help. All (multiple) negative symptoms are gone for now.

Bottom line: It may make sense to reinstall from iTunes.

Cheers,

Andrei

P.S. Am I halucinating or did Apple released minor point update to the Maverick already (few days ago?). I do not see it now... must be halicinating.

Guys, before posting stuff like it only happens to the late 13" rMBP Haswell, please read some of the comments in this thread.

People with older MBPs, iMacs and even Airs experienced this issue after installing Mavericks!

I've been following this post for a few days now, so please don't draw immature conclusions after reading 3-4 posts. It's very misleading to some users.

Has anyone noticed this weird little "moved" link that has appeared at the top of this thread?

The link, for me, gives an error implying restricted content.

Not sure what that means, but I wonder if Apple wants to close this thread...

I've seen that before, it appeared a few hours ago. Not sure what it is, and what it does.

I doubt they would close this thread.

Do you - by chance, use a USB Mouse or have a USB anything connected?

Also, congratulations! I hope it keeps on working! Good luck!!!!
