No sound out after wake up in Mavericks

I have updated to Mavericks three days ago.

But I find that there is no sound output (headphone &speaker) after sleep, even though for 1 second's sleep.

Everytime I need to restart the computer to obtain the sound again.

Someone list the following suggested solution, but it actually does not work:

"

Close all windows and quit all applications.

Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.

Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences

Open "Audio" folder.

Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".

com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist

com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

Close the window. Restart the computer.

"

I really really hope someone can help me to solve this problems.

Many thanks!

Hey tacomodo,

I don't know if either option help's, because unloading the kernel extension worked for me once, but you could try these steps:

I waited this long to upgrade and there's still a problem like this??? Egads…

Force quitting Coreaudiod doesn't do anything for me (well, it started an interesting chain that caused the most bizarre crash I've ever seen in which my screen eventually went all light tan, then seemed to log me out… but not enough that it fixed the sound issue, so will be officially restarting shortly, but I digress). Restarting fixed it when I first found this out the other day, but that will get annoying REALLY fast as I have numeros applications open at any given time (and several are Adobe, which don't just "quit" when you tell them to…)

My sound prefs are normal, never heard of this "Boom," so that's not it… even tried sticking in headphones in case it was doing that "oh, there's not an external speaker?" thing. After sleep sounds about right, as I had sound earlier, but not after it happened to fall asleep. I'm on a mid-2009 MBP, so it seems to go all over the place on what it will effect.

Hopefully there will be a solution some day…

OK… weird… For the heck of it, even though I was 99.9% sure I had tried the AirPlay mention before (except through sound prefs, not via a dropdown since I'm a mid-09 and don't have mirroring abilities) but I tried clicking on the AirPlay option and then back to Internal Speakers a few hours ago on a whim and it worked…

I noticed my computer had gone silent again a few minutes ago, so went back to Sound prefs and tried it again… Oddly, my sound can come out of my AppleTV at the moment, but it won't come back to my computer…

Reboot still being the only consistent fix. Definitely a problem with Mavericks as this never occurred in 4+ years until I recently upgraded…
