Mail.app not working after migrating from Early 2008 MacBook Pro (Mavericks) to MacBook Pro Retina Display Late 2013

I bought a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina Display and ran Migration Assitant to transfer files from my early 2008 model MacBook Pro - both were running Mavericks at the time. Everything transferred fine with the exception of Mail.app.

The Mail folder is in the library where it is supposed to be. However, when I open the Mail.app, it prompts me to add a mail account. However, when I do, nothing happens, and if I press cancel, it exits the mail app. When I make it into the mail app, after entering my iCloud information, if I go to accounts, both my academic and iCloud accounts are already there, however, they do not show up in the Mail.app.

Any fixes would be greatly appreciated!

I could not find the different things in the library so what I did was:

1. Went into applications

2. Right clicked on email app

3. Clicked on duplicate

4. Drug it down to my dock

5. Went to my "non-working" email app

6. Right clicked on the non-working email app

7. clicked on options

8. clicked on "show in finder"

9. It disappeared into finder and I opened my copy of email, IT WORKED! YAYY!

This workd for me when migrating from my MacBook time mashine backup to a clean installation of Maverick on an iMac. I had the same problem as stated in the first post and after deleting Container.plist but I had to delete also OldData folder which is located in the same folder. After 3 weeks of searching for a solution for this problem it finally worked. Thanks ! 🙂

Gilles, thank you. I meant file, but I checked all the options presented here including this one. When I do tha on finder/go/folder I get the message The folder can't be found as shown in the pic below. Crazy right? If anyone have an idea let me know please. Will talk to Apple. Very disturbing these issues. Thanks !!!
