incorrect apple id cannot be used to unlock this iphone

i have original apple id and password but it don't work ... i signed out from id after that i erase content and settings and now it tells me that my id cannot be used

First, you'll have to explain what you mean by "unlock". If you mean your phone is activation locked, read the rest of this thread.

If you mean it's locked to a carrier, you'll need to contact that carrier to have it unlocked.

If you mean you forgot the passcode to unlock the screen, you'll need to restore the phone using iTunes.

Years later after this was first posted and this issue is still on going with NO FIX? Whats up with that?

Recently I updated my iPad once it came time to log in I had the same issue. My O*****@****.ca can not be used to unlock this iPad. SURPRISE!!!! Same login information and it works for iCloud, iTunes and my other devices with no issues. I went into iCloud & iTunes to manage my devices and to my surprise the iPad is not listed anymore. So this is why I can not connect my iPad to my iTunes to complete activation. So how do I get it back into my devices when I dont have access through my iPad itself?

I tried to sell my iphone and when the person went to activate it, same problem. this is on an iphone 6s ios 10. The solution: Called apple, they are having me send in the original receipt for the device. They can unlock it on their end. Strange part is that the apple ID is not mine. I do not recognize it. So entering my apple ID does not activate the phone, and that is because it is not my ID. Strange. Supposedly takes up to 8 days to release the phone on apples end.

The password has to be the active one for the Apple ID. If you changed it on a different device you need to use the new password on the iPhone.

you're right , it happend to me too . Now i really sad and want to cry , cause that's is the only one device i have . And now i just keep my iphone on my hand anywhere but do nothing with it and it's useless
