Massive problem with audio interface

Hi there.

I recently bought a brandnew iMac 27" Haswell i7. I encountered problems with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. These are buzzing, clicking and noise immediately or after 3 minutes or so. I tried everything, re-installed the driveres several times, nothing, really nothing worked.

Then I bought an RME Babyface audio interface - and guess what? It's the same problem. I also have a massive sound noise after some minutes or the recording channel in Garage Band drops completely.

What is wrong here? I already tried using a different power plug, tried all USB ports, turned off WiFi, HDD sleep mode, etc. Nothing worked.

Do you have an idea?

I appeciate your help,

Adrian.

10.9.2 has fixed my issues. Been without sound from soeakers and interface since October when I upgraded to Mavericks.

Thanks Apple for trying to pile the blame onto your 3rd party partners like Motu.

Maybe Apple should think about giving everyone £10/$10 for itunes for the crap we have had to put up with; A new OS not being compatible with new HW.... Amateur at best as far as producted testing and regression testing goes. Pay me £100K a year and it won't happen again!

Anyhoo...... Still working and I am now just under 9 mins of constant audio playback!

I'm at the studio today and going to thoroughly road test 10.9.2. Before this my haswell 13 MacBook was glitching and crackling during recording with minor to zero artifacts or issues elsewhere. My USB sound card drivers were updated to 10.9.1 compatible which solved most issues before the update.

To be honest performance in ableton live had dropped with the previous update with buffer underuns happening even when CPU wasn't very high 40-50% regardless of audio interface. Hopefully this issue is also solved.

I appreciate it's millions of lines of code and any changes can screw up dependant code elsewhere but I'm still confused why Apple chose to fiddle with a very important part that could cause so much expensive gear to act no better than a brick for audio. most audio gear is many times more costly than the price of a mac as it's so specialist so it's a bad sector to mess with as they spend a lot.

I am happy to say that everything work well for me now. Did som serious testing yesterday with no glitches, noise or high latency when recording audio in Propellerhead Reason or Logic Pro X.
