Home Sharing not working - iTunes 11.1.2 / iOS 7.0.3

For/If somebody who uses iTunes Home Sharing - has home sharing stopped working for you after updating to iTunes to 11.1.2 or OS X Mavericks? Both of those updates were released and applied on the same day. Before these two updates, it was working fine. Just trying to figure out which is possibly the problem and how to fix it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

BEFORE

OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5

iTunes 11.1 or 11.1.1

AFTER

OS X Mavericks

iTunes 11.1.2

Devices on the Network

(Device ... Operating System ... Network Connection Type)

Mac Mini ... OS X Mavericks 10.9 … Wired

MacBook Pro(MBP) ... OS X Mavericks 10.9 … Wi-Fi

iPhone 5 ... iOS 7.0.3 … Wi-Fi

iPhone 5 ... iOS 6.1.4 ... Wi-Fi

iPad 3rd Gen … iOS 7.0.2 ... Wi-Fi

The Home Sharing is still working fine between the OS X devices (Mac Mini and MBP). But none of the iOS devices detect either of the Home Sharing Libraries (Mac Mini and MBP library). Also, since all three iOS devices are running three different iOS versions, i dont believe it is not an iOS problem.

I should like to say that I too am having serious difficulties that have not been resolved, in spite of my performing several of the suggestions found here for correcting the difficulties. The system has previously worked well for several years without difficulties, and now, since the last round of upgrade into Mavericks, I cannot get a movie to play form one computer to another for more than a few minutes afterwhich the image freezes and there is no futher progress. I have a mac Pro, a mac mini, a mac powerbook (new) and a mac airbook running in the house with an apple wifi system. I also have an iphone and ipad. I have been using macs since 1983 and have not experienced so signifincat an issue after an upgrade. The rest of teh system seems fine and several improvements are welcomed but teh itunes issue is clearly putting a damper on the enjoyment as it has rendered home sharring essentially unavailable.

I am having the same problem. Running a 2012 Mac Mini with up-to-date Mavericks and up-to-date iTunes. iPad2 with up-to-date iOS7 and reinstalled Remote app cannot be seen by just-updated Apple TV or iTunes. Oddly, both iTunes and Apple TV can see my iPhone 4s running up-to-date iOS7. Why would Remote work just fine on an iPhone but not an iPad?

I've had the same problem with home sharing after updating to the very latest version of iTunes (11.1.???).

It's a workaround but no less a pain.

I uncheck ipv6 from the PC's LAN adaptor and save the setting, open iTunes, check that's sharing is working, then check ipv6 again and save.

Sharing works while iTunes remains open for this session. If you close and re-open, it won't work again until the procedure is repeated.

Apple really does need to address this.

I have this problem every time I update iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop.

I go to:

1: Start menu

2: Control Panel

3: Programs and Features

4: I locate "Bonjour"

5: SINGLE click "Bonjour"

6: Click "Repair" on the Control Bar

7: Reset my PC

8: Reset my Apple TV

This has worked on every iTunes update I receive. I just did it again for the latest iTunes 11.1.3.8. Problem solved.

Thanks to all those who gave or passed on the solution of turning off IPv6, this has worked to resolve most of the annoying issues with Home Sharing that I've been fighting for quite some time now!!!

Here are the steps I would recommend to get it all working:

On any OS X device running the above versions of OS X that will either be using Home Sharing (either as server or client):

1) Sign out of Home Sharing in iTunes

2) Quit iTunes

3) Open Terminal

a) networksetup -listallnetworkservices (this will provide you a list of all your available network connections)

b) networksetup -setv6off <network service> where <network service> is one of Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Thunderbolt\ Ethernet, I ran it for any that I *might* use (eg: both Ethernet and Wi-Fi)

4) Open iTunes

5) Turn Home Sharing back on in iTunes

In earlier versions of OS X, one could select Off for IPv6 directly in the Network Control Panel so just replace step 3 above for Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks with this step in the above procedure.

On your iOS 7 devices:

1) Log out of Home Sharing in Settings:Music or Settings:Videos

2) Reboot your device

3) Log back in to Home Sharing in Settings:Music or Settings:Videos

I still haven't resolved the issue on the Apple TV 3 that requires I reboot it every time I want to use Home Sharing after I wake it up. If I find the fix for that, I'll post it here.

Similar ongoings here.

Issue:

iPhone 4s is no longer able to connect to my Home Shared library on iTunes via Music, Video, or the Apple Remote App.

The iPhone is found by iTunes for wireless syncing.

No changes were made to my home wifi network - its been the same for 1+ years.

Nuts and Bolts of setup:

Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

iTunes 11.1.3.8

iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.4

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

To make it more frustrating, Home Sharing started working on Thanksgiving Day. I made no changes to any settings in iTunes, my iPhone or my home network (IPv6, for example). It just started working.

Then, the next day, it stopped.

Apple, are you out there?
