Magic Mouse too Sensitive Under Mavericks

Come on Apple, I have $140 worth of paperweights in my magic mouse and my magic track pad. FIX this please!!!

I submitted as well with my screencast of the issue. HOPEFULLY other people will submit this too because they aren't going to look at it unless people make a stink! It's really making it darn hard to deal with designing

I am having the same problem. It's as if the Trackpad has become hypersensitive and has a mind of its own.

Add my voice to the growing list of folks who have noticed this issue. I can't tell you how many times I've clicked the wrong link because the screen scrolls on me just as I'm trying to click!

This whole Mavericks upgrade was an unmitigated disaster. My wireless is a mess, I can't boot into safe mode, and, now, this. I feel like a chump for trusting Apple to get it right! :-(

The unplanned flying scroll/zoom/click has become untenable for me. About the only thing I didn't try was grounding my mousing hand.

The Magic Mouse is an amazing piece of engineering, but the ability to adjust touch sensitivty would be great. A separate preference panel or even a free-standing app would be fine. Just something to turn it down. Alas, we're not there yet. Hopefully soon.

For now, I'll use something a little more conventional.

Tried a Logitech, but the drivers were kinda shaky. The other major vendor of mainstream rodents, MS, didn't have anything that really fit the bill for me. So I started looking into less mainstream offerings, gaming mice, and found the Thermaltake Level 10M. Only took a little bit to figure out how to create keystroke macros and assign them to buttons, and peace has once again settled in.

Ken, Glad you found s suitable solution for you for now but Apple still has to get it's butt in gear on fixing this issue. This is a large issue for many. In my case I am not happy about having two $69 paperweights! I can only hope that they do have this on their radar and are working diligently to correct whatever it is they broke with Maverick.

How about an Apple spokesman at least addressing the issue here in the forums? With over 3000 views there is obviously some attention being paid to this issue.

I also gave in and switched to me old "wireless" mouse which requires a stupid USB base plugged in to the computer. I am NOT AT ALL HAPPY ABOUT THIS but it's literally made it impossible to work with.

I have submitted two in past already, one for magic mouse one for magic trackpad! It is obvious from the number of comments and views that this is the most viewed problem with Maverick since it came out. They must be well aware by now. Eother a tough fix or they just don't care?

Not sure if this will help anyone as it seems that most users are trying to reduce the sensitivity of the mouse rather than disable the scrolling functionality. However my issue was that I wanted to disable the scrolling on the mouse all together, but could not find that option in the mouse preferences. What I did find is that you can disable the scrolling on the mouse by going to Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Mouse Options and then uncheck scrolling. NOw I don't have to buy a new USB mouse and can use my mighty mouse without the scrolling. Much easier to design without my artboard moving up down the whole time.

Appreciate the thought and glad it works out for you. In my case I just blew the dust off my magic trackpad and before I could so much put my fingers upon it dialog boxes were opening, things were clicking. OFF!!! Back to it's paperweight position until Apple fixes what it BROKE!

Add me to the list. I've only ever used a Magic Mouse with Mavericks, so don't have a point of comparison since I just moved from an older iMac running Lion with a wired Apple mouse. But this "uncommanded scrolling" is maddening!

I have an appointment at my Genius Bar to get a new Magic Mouse tomorrow- but now I suspect it won't make a difference.

FWIW...I went to the Apple Store today and duplicated this issue on every single one of the iMacs that I tried. I guess some people just don't mind it???? 😮

I honestly think that people either think it's their mouse so they switch it out OR they don't do enough stuff with their computers to know the difference. Its the single most infuriating things in the world.

That said, its not EVERY computer because my husband's imac is fine, which is weird.

To Jedi and others, in accessibility>mouse and trackpad>mouse options>scrolling is checked, scroll speed is 3 of 7 but use without inertia has solved my jumpy mouse issues. Hope this helps

I tried it to no avail. Every week or so I turn on magic trackpad for my desktop to check just in case someone at apple fixed something. It has only become worse, where I used to get up to 30 minutes before it went nuts on its' own, now pretty much from the fisrt moment you connect it. Things start clicking ontheir own, scrolling starts like magic etc. It truly is now a magic trackpad, bad magic!
