I have been trying to download Maverick on to my 2012 MacAir. It gets to 996MB and stops. A message says there has been an error in the download and to go to purchases and try again. It's the same every time I try.

Any ideas?

Success!

We'll, looks like the ISP after all. I'm currently downloading OS Maverick in the Apple Store. More that 4.9 GB and still going strong. 1st time it's not stopped at 996 MB. Guess my next job is a call to BT to sort out why there is a limit imposed on my network. I have a friends laptop to go yet and I don't want to trek down to the Apple store every time there's an upgrade. Would be nice however, if there was an alternative download source, could have an option of downloading in part ie. ~500 MB sized parts.

the 995mb limit is a known issue with the ISP blocking large file downloads. Google 995mb and BT 2-wire.

If you haveBT as your ISP and use a BT Business Hub 2701 style router then it may give you the 995 block. Some have workaround it by downloading on a different network, or pausing the download at 900 and then resuming over a tethered mobile or hotspot to get past the 995 block. Then resume as normal at 1GB on their problem ISP network.

PS.Soldier Zero above. Are you spamming? If you are legitimate then it is pretty stupid to post links without explanation of what they are.

no! no! it's misunderstanding!

I wanted to help

I tried to download mavericks from apple's server but I couldn't download it

after searching i found a site that upload it and i could download it and install it as you can see in my profile i wrote that site's link to help others to download mavericks

I hate spamming

please forgive me if it doesn't work for you

I didn't know that there is problem with ISP I thought you have problem with apple's server like me

Fine, but if you post links to unknown servers, first you should say what the links do, if it is a legitiamte link, and demonstrate your experience of using the links: have you downloaded Mavericks from it? did it work for you? Were there any issues? Uncorroborated advice is no help to anyone.

PS your solution is not appropriate on this thread as the size of the file is the issue, not the source.

Thanks Spinalman.

I can confirm that.

As I had previously reported the the problem was with the ISP and I had successfully downloaded OS Maverick at the Apple Store. At home I did have a BT 2Wire Gateway 2701HGV-C Router supplied by my ISP.

I've swaped the router with a BT Business Hub 3.0 Router which I had just been lazy to swap over to.

OS Maverick downloaded successfully on my friends computer without the previous 996 MB block.

Therefore the problem lay with the Router supplied by BT: 2Wire Gateway 2701HGV-C

Hope this helps others. 🙂
