Can't edit titles in the new iMovie (Mavericks)

Still maddening in 2017, too hard to change color, cannot make paragraph breaks, finally FINALLY got the test in right size, then when I played it was all jumping around, how could someone read a thing like that? Switching fonts somehow helped, but then while adjusting font size the whole block of text vanished. UGH!

OK, I figured it out, and it's very simple, but unlike any action in the older iMovie.

1. Click on the Blue T in the toolbar to highlight your text.

2. Click on the Font Box to select font, and at the very bottom, click "Show Fonts"

3. Click on the little gear drop down and select Color. Now you can select the color you want and drag it directy into your Font Box. The color will change. Also, change font size here.

The Color and Text box will pop back up with fewer steps after doing it the first time.

Also let it be known that for whatever reason you cannot edit "standard" title but you can edit "upper" title. What in the world is going on?!

Yeah, they totally broke iMovie. I was able to change one title, but I can't anymore because I don't know which of my frustrated random actions let me in to edit text. That and the reappearance of the spinning beach ball, something that I haven't seen since switching to an SSD 2-3 years ago is frustrating.

They took away color/design options too. I hope it comes back. Anything after my footage made on Mountain Lion is now black titles instead of green for one of my projects.😕

Also, where did "finalize" go?

EGADSss! I thought I was losing my mind. Is Apple SERIOUS? I can't change a friggin' font in a simple title? Or color. SO everyone's video will look the same. No serioisy I CANNOT believe this. Do I really have to put in $300 to get FCP so that I can change the darn font on a title???????

I'm having the same problem. This is utterly ridiculous... I'm using the same text box that I've used on many videos, & was always able to change the font, colour & size before; why would Apple change such a thing?? Stop fixing what ain't broke, Apple!!

Just discovered that iMovie 9.0.9 was stilled installed on my Mac! It just might be on yours. Go to Finder(NOT Launchpad), then Applications, and there should be a folder right next to the new iMovie that says iMovie 9.0.9. It still had all of my old projects. Hope it works for you guys!

This has to be a bug. Why would Apple not provide a method of changing title fonts?? The explanation that "some title styles have elements that can't be changed" is nutty! This completely limits the product. Hello, Apple, are you out there???

I have the same problem, my solution was to go into Photoshop and create a graphic. Thanks Apple for making it take even longer and more trouble to create a video. Not to mention all the changes you made in other areas and to the iphone that not only were completely unneccesary but were very poor design.

It's actually in it's own folder. Look for iMovie 9 folder, then the icon is in the folder.

You can just click on it to launch. I deleted the new version afterwards since it takes almost 3gbs of space and everything worked fine. The project I had started on the new version was lost, not sure if there is a way to recover that, but I was happy just to be able to start over with something that works well!

This is not a bug! iMovie is working as it should. Some titles cant be edited. Scroll down and you will see additional titles that look similar to titles at the top of window. Select one of these and you will be able to edit these titles.

Uh, no you cannot. None of the titles in the Trailer area are editable, not a single one! No access to change fonts, bold, italicize, underline... nothing! This is a serious bug or a tremendous oversight or perhaps something to drive us to the more expensive FCPX? Either way I am severely disappointed that APPLE has allowed this to happen. What happened to the fabulous products that used to come out???

Yeah, I still have 9. Sorry it took me so long to respond but I guess 9 will do until the newest update "behaves itself" I guess. Other than that, I LIKE the new update except for how the projects are stored. I want to see them in my finder instead of that "theater section". I like the idea of finalizing projects, too. JUST SAYING.

Seriously though, why did they get rid of color/design options, and font changing? THAT makes no sense. Font size is important, especially since I want to make my point in less title slides.

same old Apple update problem.

Apparently you can't change font/size of the new titles. for the old titles, you can't remove the font shadow. they f***** up the whole thing, it's rediculous. all my previews have red flickering lights. It's slow. it's seriously in beta, like iMovie 0.0.01 beta.

I'm glad 9.0.9 was still in the Applications folder, I "switched" back.
